"Ever since the movie 'Star Wars' came out and there was a distress call from Princess Leia," -- generated in thin air by the robot R2D2 -- "people all over the world have been wanting one of these."

well, at least we know who their marketing audience is.

Yeah, I'll marry a Betazoid woman and you can call me Riker
But my child's dream was being like Dr. Spock - what path should I take?

The holodeck would be great, no matter how you look at it. And as Laurence M.Krauss (author of "The Physics of Star Trek" and the chief physicist at the Case Wester University) said, most people would use the holodeck for sexual purposes

ah, but then you have to ask yourself, is there anything else worth holographically projecting?
it's be a little too much money to spend on something OTHER than pleasing the hormones.

Re: hmm, this should make for some interesting PrOn0

I read several years ago that the US government already had aumm.. not realyl a holodeck, but a virtual deck comprised of millions of little screens. They use it to help train solders. They can put them in any situation/enviroment (Even down to controlling the humidity)
