Well, IMHO Half-Life will never be better than Doom, no matter what other people say.

Are you talking about the difference between Doom and Half-Life 1, Doom 3 and Half-Life 2 or in general?

Cause yes, Half-Life is very good, but I wouldn't go on about it like alot have....

I love the first Half-Life but both Half-Life and Red Faction stole their story from Doom, so I believe Doom 3 will be better than Half-Life 2.

I'm talking about Half-Life in general. I don't think it's such a big deal (it's only my opinion, though).

I'm really looking forward to both of them! Although, if I had to choose which one to get if I could only get one.....it'd be Doom III....it looks amazing!

Greetings,

The worst part is that I'll probably need an upgrade before I can play Doom III. I heard that the minimum it needs is a GeForce 3... Too bad for me
But like you, I'll be getting both, only for the sake of it

Live long and prosper.

Doom is the best FPS game ever (Second place goes to serious sam, if anyone ask... ). I have Doom since it was released and still play it. With great utils like Slige (random level generator), the Doomsday engine, MD2 models... Half Life is good, but will NEVER be better than doom (and his life was quite short. Heym maybe that why the name is HALF Life!). I think Doom3 is going to be the best release ever!

Doom 3 is perhaps the biggest hyped up product ever.

Hehe, I never really enjoyed Doom, cuz of the crappy AI, and the low level of interactivity... In short it was too "Run and shoot!"
And I prefer realistic weapons (but a few very futuristic ones are welcome too)

Same opinions here. Thats why half life was much better than Doom. The first time I played half life I said "Wow ,thats what we call AI".

I still remember that first small monster pounding on my face.

And the characters, the Docs and the soldiers, they were really really cool.

It was infact the first pc game that was more like a movie than a game.

maybe if not half-life the game; half-life the mod-friendly app is still the most popular by the numbers (damn CS just won't die yet.). add that to the fact that HL2 will have very low spec requirement when compared to the video-hungry doom (at least according to the info valve has released about HL2); more people will be able to appreciate HL rather than doom.

It's also the only game that never left my HDD since I have my PC (more 3-4 years)

I think the monster cast should be reversed. HL and all of their mods (save CS) were all mega crappy. I don't see how HL2 would be any better

Na.... I wasn't really impressed with H-L either. I preferred SiN. H-L was only good for CS beta 7

That's probably the case with me: I didn't liked the engine. The only good thing about HL is CS
