New Movies Thread *Maybe Spoilers*

I decided since there was a coolest movie of 2003 which people predicted their favorites or soon to be favorites of 2003...i would make a thread about movies that have already been released and can be discussed...

Just saw bruce almighty and it had to be one of the funniest movies i've ever seen...Morgan Freeman & Jim Carrey are 2 of my favorite actors and i don't see many good comedies but my god (no pun intended) this movie was hilarious. Hope to hear some opinions on this or other movies soon

I felt Phone booth was crap. I couldn't wait to get out of hte cinema on that one. It was so dull.
Matrix: Rel was great fun and left you thinking a lot afterwards.
Shanghai Knights is good if you like Jackie Chan films. Jackie is the only respectable martial artist/actor I know that can lose convincingly. The singing in the rain bit was a very nice touch, not to mention the Chaplin references.
Although far from a new film, Space Truckers was on TV tonight. I can say without fear of contradiction that it is the worst film ever made. It was **** from start to finish with a **** filling.

I just saw the movie "Waking Life" the other day. It has a crazy animation style, they took normal actors and then hadd different artists paint over it. It was really thought provoking too, I'm still thinking about it.

But yeah, I saw X-Men 2 and Reloaded. I would have to say that I found both to be pretty good. Eventhough I thought there was too much action in Reloaded.

Why does everyone think there was too much action in Matrix Reloaded? I thought it was balanced out really nicely. The fighting was one of the things I was looking forward to seeing.....and it did not disappoint me at all!

I watched Rules of Attraction yesterday... my friends all said it sucked a lot, but I really liked it. Roger Avery is a mastah!! After all the sex, vomiting, and overall violence, there was this one scene which managed to shock me:

SPOILER: Highlight text to view.
Yes, it was the scene where you can see this girl's face as she's dying, after having cut through her arms with a razor blade. It wasn't the blood, nor watching her commiting suicide, it was the expressions on her face as she died which gave me the shivers! I mean, you could almost feel her pain! If you've seen the movie you'll know what I'm talking about (or maybe not, but whatever)

I don't really like action in my movies/anime. I'm just wierd that way.

Minority Report was pretty good. I loved the eyeball in the plastic baggie

I just watched Johnny English. It was unbelievably predictable (especialy the Barclaycard advert rip off) but it was hilarious none the less. The only really annoying thing was the ridiculous French accent of hte French guy.

Has anyone here seen donnie darko? That movie made me think more than any other movie i have ever seen...i had to watch it 3 times to understand it...no action but i thought it was 50 times better than either of the matrixes...its like a time travel/thriller/comedy with religious discussion and 80's teenage life...awesome movie

Some of the better ones, well besides the ones already said, that I have seen are (not 2003, but I saw them in 2003 )..

Equilibrium - Very sweet movie, a must see once it hits DVD.
Donnie Darko - From 2001 but a great movie, see it if you haven't already.
Drum Line - Some might not like this movie, but I thought it was good.
Frailty - Another 2001 movie, but only saw it recently.
Identity - New movie and I think it was cool.
Basic - Pretty Good with a twist ending.
Boat Trip - Funny as hell.

there is more but I can't think of them

Yeah, Equilibrium is also a superb film. I loved the gun fights, not to mention that it makes you think. Like the Matrix in that respect. First time though you are impressed with the effects and fights. Second time you really appreciate the movie itself.

What is equilibrium all about?

I also think there were a lot of action scenes in Reloaded but this was predictable. To some people the story was what made the movie famous but to the special effects loving people that was what made it different You have to admit they really made a revolution in the film effects of that time.

Reloaded IMO had so many actions scenes that were so long it just got boring...that smith clone battle was boring after about a minute...and then you got that guy before he goes to see the oracle that he fights...what was the point of that...there wasn't one...first one remains better to me but everyone has an opnion...oh yea...and what was with that dance scene...that proved absolutely nothin
