i don't like american idol...people who go on that show just wanna show off their talent...and if they really wanted to get a job...i wouldn't be singing on tv...i'de be sendin demos to record companies...publicity hogs

I never really understood whats the big deal about american idiol it's such a boreing show to me :confused: , oh well may just be me but I spoke to others who feel the same way.

I don't watch American Idol, but I saw a glimpse of the show where Ruben is singing in the early stages.

Ruben has the talent of a great singer.

well I personally (having been forced to watch it) in the last round thought that Clay had a stonger voice that stayed in tune more regularly.

A lot of the competitors are just normal people like all of us and some have friends that talked them into doing it and some didn't know how good they really are. Just look at the ones that made the final 12, none of them came off as publicity hogs and most were star struck by the whole thing. Besides the final 3 people sang better then a good portion of current singers, they deserve all the publicity they get .. I would rather see them on TV all the time then other jokes like Britney Spears.

What I want to see is people like Ruben, Clay and even last years winner Kelly Clarkson vs Star Singers .. makes you wonder who would win.

why wouldnt you sing on TV? the winner is sure of a contract worth millions. and beeing on the show gives you way more chances of beeing noticed then sending demo tapes.even though some dont win in American Idol they go on to have a career in singing, like Justin and Tamyra from the last american idol

Ruben will speak for the minorities in the USA. I really didn't like the ending where they said about a 2000 votes between the two, but at least the right person won. Clay knew it all along, his *** performances during the beginning of the finals is what made me vote for Ruben.

One thing this is pondering me is that my local radio station always refers to the 2 by "Clay and Ruben". Since Ruben won, shouldn't it be the other way around?

I think American Idol as a phenomenon is kind of dumb. I'll admit, it can be kinda fun to watch from time to time, especially the early rounds where it's fun to make fun of all the cocky but completely talentless people.

While the phenomenon is dumb though, they've done a surprisingly good job both seasons finding very talented people. I don't care much for Kelly Clarkson's songs, but on pure talent she's a pretty amazing vocalist. In fact, her voice is TOO good for the crap that she's singing. It will be the same for Ruben and Clay (I think Clay got a record deal too). Ruben is a great singer, but his voice is more like a soul singer than a pop idol... Clay as well has a powerful voice, but he's more suited to broadway and theater than crappy teeny-bopper pop music.
