Greetings,

I'll go watch Matrix Reloaded, but I don't have very high expectations. It's good as an action move, but action isn't my favorite genre. It's main theme (humans living in computer simulations) attract me, but it's poorly treated in the movie. The authors don't anything about physics or thermodynamics, for their explanation about using humans as living batteries in outright silly (you would spend more energy doing the simulation and life-support on the humans then you would get out of them).
Besides, the first movie is about what I call "techno-misticism". It has all elements of medieval supernatural stories (a choosen one, an oracle, fate, an awakening ritual and many more) transposed to a pseudo-futuristic setting". It's almost as if they have changed the old medieval dragon into a sentient computer.
It's for these reasons that I don't think "Matrix" is such a great sci-fi movie (it has too many fiction and too much silly science [or nonsense science as Michael Shermer would put it]). But I'll see the second movie anyway, as I don't think it will be a total waste of time and money (it has it's good points).

BTW, is it true that they'll release the third movie in november? It's rather unusual, don't you think??

Live long and prosper.

Why did they ban Daredevil?
In anycase, my country is pretty sensitive when it comes to religious stuff in movies. You give one slight hint on christian superiority and they'd ban the movie. One mention of the evil character being muslim or has a name similar to that of one, the movie is gone.
Oh, if the muslim character is the hero, that'd be a different story.

Well....IIRC they banned DD coz of something related to the word vigilante. Then the Censorship Board had this thing against the guy who turns evil at night. Can't really remember what they said exactly.

They have no right to determine what religion should be in a movie. You should have freedom of religion and that censorship board pisses me off.

Not that they have rights in many things. They're shaping my country as they wish anyway.

That, is ridiculous. The government has no right to limit the religious content of movies. They banned DareDevil? HEy, it's an *ACTION MOVIE*, not a religious commentary. It would suck for you if it is bannned though... you might have to resort to piracy (and bad image quality) (WHICH IS WRONG, AND IS NOT THE WAY OF NGEMU ) or take a brief trip to a neighbouring country (not sure where you live, might be an island for all I know... )

Our government will ban any movie that using "Allah" name for any character (didn't care if it is the hero or the evil character) because "Allah" is the name of god and it is not right to name a character in a movie as "Allah". Imagine how will the christian feel if the name of the bad character in that movie is Jesus.

Yup...I guess they had already finished all the filming and editing already...I think aliyah (sp) would have been hotter than the girl they have...:/

Not sure but I think that the only film thats been banned for religious content in the UK is the Life of Brian, the Monty Python film, I could be wrong though.

ROFL I just saw a friggin funny commercial. It was for heineken (sp). It was a woman that looks like trinity from the matrix as a barmaid and she was delivering a couple of beers. So on the way the camera focuses on her ass when a guy slaps her on the ass. She then throws the beer in the air and goes into matrix jump mode and kicks the guy into the wall...she lands and catches the beers and delivers them.

Greetings,

It seems to be funny, but I don't think it's coming to Brazil
BTW, I was checking that link on CNN.com that you posted and as it seems they'll really release the movie in november. But I think it's strange, anyway.

Live long and prosper.

Bad image quality? Times change, bebeh. Someday, if you ever chance upon coming to Malaysia, you'll understand what I'm saying..

Well, I'm Buddhist, and if a movie chooses to use Buddha, heck why should I mind? (Unless my name is Buddha too, but that is not to be)

Hype it here means basically mean talk about how good you think the Matrix Reloaded is going to be.
I don't care much for the plot of the first one but the fight scenes were fantastic, the ones in Reloaded are meant to be even better.

N1ghtw0lf: Here in Canada they will let you into a R rated movie if you are with

a) a group of people (they don't want to ruin your outing)

b) a girl (they don't want to ruin your date)

c) are older than 18

So try a few of these and see what happens... good luck...

The trailer for the movie is awesome by itself, the one scene they show *spoiler*

of Neo fighting 100 agent smiths is *awesome*. They're also releasing a 'animatrix' DVD only type thing that looks neat.

as for them releasing the 3rd one so soon after the second, I assume that they hope the hype will overflow from the second and increase ticket sales for the third. Usually though they wait untill the previous movie has had it's run of te theatres and made some cash (look at the LOTR movies, they are all finished also...) before they release the sequel...

TIME's review of the game says that at one point the player is confronted with a black screen and a DOS prompt, given no instructions as to what to do next. This idea is pretty cool sounding, the player is forced to think for themselves, mess around with different possibilities of what to do and 'hack' (prolly pretty simplistic and primitive though). I think that the game will be something else, not just your typical FPSer.

I agree with most of what you said, and I don't want movies to be 100% realistic (I'm a fan of science fiction and horror, after all). But I think that using stupid or plainly wrong physics is a bad thing, like the human batteries in Matrix. But I've already said that Matrix has it's good points, and I'll go and watch it.

And how old r u? Here in Brazil Matrix will be rated for people over 16, is it different where you live?

Live long and prosper.
