Fansub Queries

I know lots of you watch fansubs. How many gigs of fansubs do people keep around on HDD or CD's or do you just delete them after viewing?

You mean a CD-RW? I tend to use normal CD's since they burn more quickly. That's important sometimes when the harddrives are rapidly filling up as you burn! I keep most of the CD's unless I get the series I like on DVD, in which case I just toss them.

It's a fan subtitled anime (could be a game or manga etc.) Usually they're done for unlicensed animes that aren't released in the U.S. or certain anime w/ atrocious official subtitle quality. You'll get tidbits about culture and details w/ the fansubs you don't get w/ official subs by big companies like ADV. Back in the day, you had to send out a letter to these groups w/ a VHS tape to ask for a bunch of eps. Now, w/ the internet and common broadband connections, digital subs offer tons better quality and convenience. Try www.animesuki.com for a great site offering fansubs via bit-torrent if you're into anime.

How about posting a few numbers ? I estimate my collection at 680 gigs. That's not including the official DVD's have which would easily double that... yes I'm quite the otaku. I'm interested in knowing how much everyone else has since this anime collecting is becoming something of an obession!

~220GB last time I checked. Not counting Official DVDs, of course.

As for the original question, I watch them and burn to CDRs.

I nnever keepp any in VCD format. Perhaps the best way to sy it is how much (length) of anime do you have?
Assuming all of my records are 30 mins long (Not an unfair assumption as a umber are a couple of hours, and a number are 20 minutes), I have 1147 hours (47 days, 19 hours) of anime.
