Smile 3 Questions and a Muslim scholar.

Heard this a while ago. Sorry for some rough translation:

Quote:
There was a young man who went overseas to study for quite a long time. When he returned, he asked his parents to find him a religious scholar or any expert who could answer his 3 questions. Finally, his parents were able to find a Muslim scholar.

> Young man: Who are you? Can you answer my questions?

> Scholar: I am one of Allah's slaves and insha-Allah (God willing), I will be able to answer your questions.

> Young man : Are you sure? A lot of Professors and experts were not able to answer my questions.

> Scholar: I will try my best, with the help of Allah(SubHana Wa Ta`ala ).

> Young Man: I have 3 questions:

> 1. Does God exist? If so, show me His shape.
> 2. What is takdir (fate)?
> 3. If shaitan (Devil, Satan) was created from the fire, why at the end he will be thrown to hell that also created from fire. It certainly will not hurt him at all, since Shaitan (Devil) and the hell were created from fire. Did God not think of it this far?

> Suddenly, the Scholar slapped the young man's face very hard.

> Young Man (feeling pain): Why do you get angry at me?

> Scholar: I am not angry. The slap is my answer to your three questions.

> Young Man: I really don't understand.

> Scholar: How do you feel after I slapped you?

> Young Man: Of course, I felt the pain.

> Scholar: So do you believe that pain exists?
>
> Young Man: Of course.

> Scholar: Show me the shape of the pain!

> Young Man: I cannot.

> Scholar: That is my first answer. All of us feel God's existence without being able to see His shape.

> Scholar: Last night, did you dream that you will be slapped by me?

> Young Man: No.

> Scholar: Did you ever think that you will get a slap from me, today?

> Young Man: No.

> Scholar: That is takdir (fate).

> Scholar: My hand that I used to slap you, what is it created from?

> Young Man: It is created from skin.

> Scholar: How about your face, what is it created from?
>
> Young Man: Skin.
>
> Scholar: How do you feel after I slapped you?

> Young Man: In pain.

> Scholar: Even though Shaitan (Devil) and also the hell were created from the fire, if Allah wants, insha-Allah (God willing), the hell will become a very painful place for Shaitan (Devil).

> We must all rise above the few cultural differences that separate us and try our best to educate one another.
>

Don't go slapping around everybody
Opinions appreciated.

It's a very clever way of answering the questions. Guy isn't a scholar for nothing.

Not bad. I'd probably tell him to shut it if I were asked these questions.

Greetings,

Although I don't agree with the answers they're certainly clever (and he has done it in way to prevent refutations). A good stoty nonetheless.

EDIT: Sorry, I really mean STORY (forgive me this error)

No doubt preachers are interesting ppl to talk to. I have another story at hand, but it is in my mind in complete URDU and I need heavy translation. So I'll post it when I am in the mood.

Though I am Pakistani and living in Pakistan for a few years, I had grown up and learnt much in Saudi Arabia.

No, I have no freakin' clue about Malay

IMO... religion slows the progress of man. my religion takes a back seat when it comes to logic.

That a very nicy story indeed. I think you should post it whenever someone starts debating about god's existance

Greetings,

GAMER1 is right, religion cannot be an excuse for not thinking. But I like the story anyway, because the arguments are solid, and as consistent as such metaphysical matters can be (and it also shows a reasonable mode of reasoning).

As I have no religion myself I'm very imparcial about these matters.

Live long and prosper.

I don't see how religion can take a back seat to logic. Religion has a logic of its own. Otherwise, it would just be chaos, right?

poloy: Well... it's not exactly a proof of God's existence...

I did heard story like this before, but I think it was a little bit different. The first question was answered with the scholar mentioning about wind. Wind or air has no shape, but we can feel it and we know it exist. Though I didn't remember about the other questions.

valeron : Fawad is a Muslim who lives in Pakistan. You may be mistaken because some of the words he used are the same as in Malay, because those words are not Malay's but in Arabic as stated and used in Islam. For example, "Insha-Allah" (spelled Insya Allah in M'sia, although the pronounciation is the same). This coincidences is not because of similarity in races and languages, but because of similarity in religion.
