If you paid a lot of attention to the movie, you can figure out that Elizabth was the girl in the well. I guess Elizabeth put the dead body in the well, so know one would find out she was still alive. She was probably the one making the phone calls too.

I haven't watched the american version. Ringu's pretty different from it if what you say is true, DarkAurora.
