Year of the SEGA - A glance at the year of emulation

This year, from what I recall, and in short
  • SEGA Model 2B-CRX Emulated by Elsemi with Nebula Model 2 Test

SEGA CD Emulation takes off, with Gens 2.10 2.11

SEGA Dreamcast emulation comes on leaps and bounds (well 1 FPS) with the great work by Cyrus with Icarus

SEGA Saturn Emulation is getting more and more reality, with good FPS, on Games such as Daytona USA, Fabien is doing the scene proud

SEGA 32X Emulation is now truly fantastic (hmms Star Wars tune)

SEGA Naomi is being attempted by Cyrus, those super beasts will need power thet even my machine will get scared

NAMCO System 22 emulated under Vivanonno

Jaguar emulation started with Project Tempest

N64 emulation truly rocks with PJ64 1.5, Resident Evil 2 now kinda works

PS1 Emulation moves to Linux with ePSXe (January), PCSX begins to challenge ePSXe, and is now one of the best options out there

PS2 Emulation takes off, with many ermulators started, most well known is PCSX2, with demos playing, CDVD ISO's booting

ATARI Cojag emulation under MAME, allowing for Area 51, Maximum Force, and Vicious Circle to be played.

PolyGame Master is Emulated under Nebula

GBA Emulation has grown astronomical, and compatability is insanely high

Pete's GPU has evolved from 1.56b to 1.68, and my how it has improved.

Xeven Starts on PSXeven, and even in its beta form works well, Xevens work has advanced it very quickly

Eternal SPU 1.3 Came out, where would use FF lovers be without it

Peops Projects where started, and have made PS1 emulation more and more accessible to those with low spec systems

Sub Channel Support added to Pete's CDR, almost eliminating the need for PPF patches

    Cyberpad went kaillera this year

Lord Kane posts more than 11000 times in less than one year, okay well thats not emulation, but its some form of land mark.

Gstaris OGL is becomming quite the fine plugin.

ZSNES 1.35 released, SNES emulation is pretty much perfection unless you have some rare games So many updates its hard to list em all, but lets say its fantastic

WonderSwan emulation advances further with Cygne

Kawaks dies, only Nebula, and MAME handle Capcom System 2

WinUAE makes Amiga emulation truly fantastic, with tonnes of updates, making it one of the fastest developing emu's out there this year.

STeeM, improves constantly making Atari ST emulation a true pleasure, and with great compatability

The Original PJ64 team have left the scene

ZiNc has made great progress, and now Games like Strider, Tekken, Dancing Eyes, Street Fighter EX 2 Plus are fantastically enjoyable.

I have missed tonnes, but its a start to listing what things have happened this year

lol...yea its been a pretty great year, i been keeping up with emulation for a long time, its just recently i found out about this site, and registed as legendary0ne then forgot my password, and started a mass playing time on CS and War2/3 and SC/Bw. then i started getting back to emulation, and remembered this site, been a really great year, and more years of emulation to come, i remember back in the day, like 1998 ish and stuff, there were the best rom sites, of course for those consoles like snes and nes, and gb, not like this high-tec emulation we got today, we come far into emulation and i doubt emulation will ever die. next year is gonna be awsome too, i wouldnt be surprised if someone pulled a working PS2 Emulator that can play comercial games, out of the hat, it would be amazing, in such time, lets all hope for the best...

yea and btw...you do got a kick arse computer, who are you? Bill Gates' son? Na i bet his son would have a better comp

I think he does, but no need to be married to have a son, i mean look at batman (daughter-wise)! and watch Jerry Springer! Most irresponsible fathers leave their girlfriends after they get them all pregnant, its just the way soicioty is, you know how many chicks bill gates can get at once with his money? hell for all we know he could have 20 children,

I agree.......
This year was really good for sega machine emus.

Some points missed out :

ultrahle reborn, 1964 reaching almost pj64 status, evoodoo becoming first glide3x wrapper, cvgs resurrected for XP....

Hmm, I guess there are plenty more important ones.
