Yeah, the US Remake was a lot better overall, but the Japanese one had a couple of spots that I thought were much more effective, like how you just see Sadako's eye and not her face or anything.

But I mean, seriously, draining a WELL.. with TWO buckets.. ugh

We can I get more info about this US remake? I have never heard of it. Is it just a English dubs, or it's another thing?

Nope, it's a complete remake. It's got the same story, but there are huge differences in the way it's told. It seems like it had a much higher budget, and the acting was a little better in some places.

The story was cleaned up in a few places, and the imagery was a lot better. The only thing that really bothered me about the American version was the plot. It had a few holes in it that made it a little difficult to figure out at times, but those holes were covered if you have seen the Japanese version.

Nevertheless, I saw the US version first, and I was almost dead on about what I thought was going on in the plot. I had a friend who had gotten it screwed up though, and didn't realize a lot of the subtleties in it.
