VCDs are usually cheaper than DVDs. There are some places where you can buy the whole anime series on VCDs for the same price of one DVD.
The video quality on VCDs is not as good as the video quality on DVDs. The VCDs video quality is about the same as VCR quality, just a tad lower. Many of the anime VCDs are bootleg, so there is no guarantee on quality. If you don't have a DVD drive and you don't have the the money, buy VCDs. |

Is there something fishy about this site...
http://www.discountanimedvd.com/default.htm I found the Love Hina TV Series for just $38. Is it too good to be true or is that the norm of the cost for the series? |

DVD of course. Particularly if you like the series VERY much. There's tons of omake and subtitles too.

Was searching through Ebay for some anime and found a lot of stuff from Hong Kong. *tsk, tsk* If that doesn't scream out "bootleg", I don't know what does. Can anybody point me to a good reliable website? Last edited by ShadowDancer; July 15th, 2002 at 05:18. |

DVD or VCD , think before you ask , clearly anyone would select DVD out of those two just see DVD's offer :
- Multiple subtitles - Making ofs (MAJOR SPOILERS I mean) - Different Camera Angles (Not always) - Multiple Audio Streams - The Image is much cleare then a VCD - Sound usually is better then a VCD as well - Much more on one disc The only downside of DVD's is that they are a little more expensive but if money is no object stick to DVD's

Like Samor said.
I've never ever seen a VCD in a shop in the UK, but DVDs are avaliable by the metric tonne. DVD has far superior quality. If I have teh chioce between VCD and DVD, and there is no monetary difference, then I go for DVD. If the VCD is substatialy cheaper, and I'm strapped for cash....
