I was wondering, will cds with mp3s work in a normal car stereo??? And I've heard about mp4 long ago but I never saw any use for it. Thanks for reading.................................

Unless your car has a MP3 decoder, nope.
I havent heard of MP4, but Ive heard of MP3-pro which is supposed to give better quality audio with a smaller sized file.

MP4 is only for graphics I believe.

Short list of MPEGs

MPEG Audio (.mpa, .mp1)
Mpeg audio layer 2 (.mp2)
Mpeg audio layer 3 (.mp3)
Mpeg Video (.mpg .mpeg)
Mpeg video layer 2 (.mpg)
Mpeg Video layer 4 (.mp4) (mostly used in Divx plugins)

I don't believe there was ever a MP3 video layer or a MP4 audio layer... I may have some of this off since again I am not a computer genius... so if I am off please correct me.

There is another way though. My portable cdmp3 player came with a car adapter to enable you to plug it into your cars head unit. Maybe you should look around for a similar one.

there are some newer brands of car stereos that have mp3-support, however, most don't have this neat feature. and, if you have the same thing as betamax, give it a try but, only if that cd player has mp3 support as well. you just gotta check the specs of that cd player in your car first, then you'll know. go to websites, etc.

most car cd player does not support mp3 format... so like betamax said, it's better to have gadget like his or wait for a new version of car cd player that could play mp3 player.

I dont know about others, but my portable mp3/cd player doesnt play mp3's perfectly. CD format still offers better quality.

In my experience cdmp3 players only support certain bitrates, no of files etc... You need to make sure that you mp3's are compatible. I've got no probs here.
