Microsoft hoax?

just receive this email and dont know if it is true and all my friends are crazy sending it to all they knowbut i have not send it to anybody, somebody knows about this, these 2 companies just hate each other

THIS IS FOR REAL. IT WAS ON THE NEWS LAST NIGHT. THIS IS NOT JUNK LETTER. BILL GATES IS SHARING HIS FORTUNE.

Dear Friends,
Please do not take this for a junk letter. Bill Gates is sharing his fortune. If you ignore this you will repent later. Microsoft and AOL are now the largest Internet companies and in an effort to make sure that Internet Explorer remains the most widely used program, Microsoft and AOL are running an e-mail beta test.

When you forward this e-mail to friends, Microsoft can and will track it (if you are a Microsoft Windows user) for a two week time period. For every person that you forward this e-mail to, Microsoft will pay you $245.00, for every person that you sent it to that forwards it on, Microsoft will pay you $243.00 and for every third person that receives it, you will be paid $241.00. Within two weeks, Microsoft will contact you for your address and then send you a cheque.

Regards.

I thought this was a scam myself, but two weeks after receiving this e-mail and forwarding it on, Microsoft contacted me for my address and within days, I received a cheque for US$24,800.00.

You need to respond before the beta testing is over. If anyone can afford this Bill Gates is the man. It's all marketing expense to him. Please forward this to as many people as possible. You are bound to get at least US$10,000.00.

this kind of thing has taken the place of the chain letter. its BS. i got the exact same letter, but instead of an email beta test, it was "send this around to advertise windows ME". im thinking of writing my own one.

I'm sure Bill Gates would decide to just give out his fortune overnight.

carnage, I would block them, but email is how I normally communicate with my friends. Blocking them is just unnacceptable. Depending on how hard headed they are, they only send spam letters to me once. (Although I have one guy who just wouldn't learn. He kept telling me not to spam him, and he must have sent me 10 more letters just like it. He just couldn't figure out that I do not appreciate that crap.)

I get lots of these but I never got this one tho...

Im thinking of spreading a scam mail with the message
" Send $1 to *a temporary mailbox adress* or you will die tommorow "
Not much difference from those " Foward this or you will have bad luck in love " anyway.

Anyways thats what I do when someone send me one of those, just to tell them that it doesnt make any sense.

Wink

You should never open those emails, haven't you seen this?!?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There is a computer virus that is being sent across the Internet. If you receive an e-mail message with the subject line "Free Money," DO NOT read the message. DELETE it immediately, UNPLUG your computer, then BURN IT to ASHES in a government-approved toxic waste disposal INCINERATOR. Once a computer is infected,it will be TOO LATE. Your computer will begin to emit a vile ODOR. Then it will secrete a foul, milky DISCHARGE. Verily, it shall SCREECH with the tortured, monitor-shattering SCREAM of 1,000 hell-scorched souls, drawing unwanted attention to your cubicle from co-workers and supervisors alike. After violently ripping itself from the wall, your computer will punch through your office window as it STREAKS into the night, HOWLING like a BANSHEE. Once free, it will spend the rest of its days CRUSHING household PETS and MOCKING the POPE.

it's not a hoax, but in order to get the cheque from Microsoft, it's necessary to pay USD 100,- to my swiss account (expenses, you know) j/k

I never talked to them over email. It was always over msn or something like that. All they sent me was crap, nothing else. It doesnt even matter, I havent seen any of them for almost 2 years. We went to different schools after grade 6.

heres one someone posted on another board:

Quote:
If you receive an email entitled "Bedtimes," delete it IMMEDIATELY............ READ ON!!! Do not open it. Apparently this is pretty nasty. It will not only erase everything on your hard drive, but it will also delete anything on disks within 20 feet of your computer. It demagnetizes the strips on ALL of your credit cards. It reprograms your ATM access code, screws up the tracking on your VCR and uses subspace field harmonics to scratch any CD's you attempt to play. It will program your phone auto-dial to call only premuim rate numbers. This virus will mix antifreeze into your fish tank. IT WILL CAUSE YOUR TOILET TO FLUSH WHILE YOU ARE SHOWERING. It will drink ALL your beer.

FOR GOD'S SAKE, ARE YOU LISTENING?? It will leave dirty underwear on the coffee table when you are expecting company. It will replace your shampoo with Immac and your Immac with Deep Heat.

If the "Bedtimes" message is opened in a Windows 95/98 environment, it will leave the toilet seat up and leave your hair dryer plugged in dangerously close to a full bathtub. It will not only remove the forbidden tags from your mattresses and pillows, It will also refill your skimmed milk with whole milk.

*******WARN AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN.*******

And if you don't send this to 5000 people in 20 seconds you'll fart so hard that your right leg will spasm and shoot straight out in front of you, sending sparks that will ignite the person nearest you.

i dont really mind when people send me hoaxes or anything, i just dont like it when they send me FWDs with like 80 pages of names, then some stupid little sentance at the end. whenever i get one of those, i send an email that has about 700k worth of addresses (copy and paste, and mix them up) and then "don't you just hate it when people send you crap with a long list of names, then some piddly little line or picture at the end? what a suprise, i do too"

Bill Gates does give tons of money away, but not like that. (He gave $27 billion to fight disease in the third world a few months ago)

Well given the number of viruses that his OS's have inspired that's small beer

Seriously though, I know BG does give a lot to charity. But he could give a lot more. And does that excuse his business practices which have enabled him to accumulate that much wealth?

I really don't think Bill Gates is doing anything out of the ordinary. When you are a business, you do things to beat the competition. And yes he could give more, but then he could destroy his fortune too; and he has no obligation moral or otherwise to do that. And you can't blame him for viruses. He can try to tighten security, but that is it. It is like blaming the FBI for 9-11. And $27 billion isn;t small anything. That is a hell of a lot of money.
