Talking DreamCast Engrish

Yeah! I got a DreamCast, Jet Grind Radio, and a VGA box ($14!) today

I was reading the VGA box manual, and there are some interesting parts (the whole thing) that many Engrish fans would like

Hmm, where to start?

Cable Connector for hi-fi stereo system
* Connect the connectors of AV cable of megaphone on household TV set or stereo system (usually red is R, while is L outlet) respectively to the R (red connector for stereo system) and L connector(white connector for stereo system) on the "TV mode" side of VGA box.
* If TV is mono-sound channel, Connect the red (R) or white (L) plug of AV cable connector to the"R"or"L"on TV mode side of VGA box according to the same color.

(Note!)
* PC mode can only be used for the softwares corresponding to VGA. If on screen appear the words" This game can not agree with present cable, phease switch off power supply and use other connecting cable instead", please turn off power, and change TV mode. (Wow! That's a lot of words to cram on a display for a simple error message! I wonder if they even got the "phease" in?
* If you want to perform the conversion between PC mode and TV mode, power supply for the host must be switched off. After the conversion is completed, press down"Power" button, and turn on power switch. If you perform the conversion without switching off the power for host that will cause misfunction.
* When TV is in input conversion state, read TV set's use instructions, Preset the channel connection the VGA box through TV.
* Before use, please adjust the volume of megaphone and TV to minimum, then perform the connection.
* After use, disconnect power supply of all connected devices.

(Note!) If the above-mentioned points should be observed, hurt or damages of properties may be aroused to electric shock and other accidents. (Such as immediate death... )

Important Point for use:
When using this product, this following must be observed, otherwise, errors or misfunction may be resulted.

* Never torsion or pull the cables hard. (Maybe they mean torture?)
* Never put the cables into water, wetting the connection part.
* Before conversion is performed between PC/TV modes, power supply for the host must be switched off. Otherwise, the black image or misfunction may be aroused. (They sure like to use the word "aroused"!)

VGA Box

VGA box is used to connect the display corresponding with VGA(PC) to PC Display can make images brighter, thus you can play with games more happily.

Corresponding display

(Note!) Connection can not be performed due to different types of displays corresponding to VGA(PC). (What did I just pay for then?! )

(Note!) Non-corresponding Display
* The display that does not correspond to the 640 X 480 dots image size even if in the case of the images of horizontal synchronization frequency 31KHz.
* The display for Apple PC Computer Macintosh can not display the image of 13 inch(640 X 480dots).
* The display for EPSON PC-286,386,486,586.
* The display for Fujitsu PC computer FM TOWNS. (Uhh, who uses that anymore?!)
* The display for NEC's PC-9821 computer can not correspond to the image mode of horizontal synchronization frequency (640 X 480dots).
* Only the display for horizontal synchronization frequency 24KHz(640 X 480dots) image mode.
* Only the display for digital RGB input connector.
* The display with long afterglow and intermediate afterglow(the picture may also remained on the image).

Names and Functions of All Parts
[The cables and connectors shown in the connection diagram are not included with this product, please acquire these parts complying with this product on market if necesssary.] (Hmm, guess what I found in the box? Connectors for every single possible port on the device! [Exception: 1/8" stereo out jack])

Connection With VGA(PC) Display
* Confirm the shape of the image connector for PC display
-> D-sub 3 columns 15 pins type Connector........Insert the image connector of attached cables for PC display directly into D-sub 3 columns 15 pins connector on VGA box /PC mode.
-> Other connectors.................Users must use the conversion connector(available on market)which can transform the image connector of PC display cables to D-sub 3 columns 15 pins type connector. But conversion connector is difficult to ensure to operation, which you must understand.

The end! That was 99% of the manual

Engrish is fun for the whole family. You'd think companies would at least use a spellchecker for their instructions, but no...

Heh, thats pretty funny.

Man, I want to get a dreamcast now so bad.....but I have no money for it. How much did you get your Dreamcast for?

I only want it for two games, Daytona USA and Marvel Vs. Capcom 2. Two great games, and if I get a dreamcast I wouldl get more games since there are a bunch of other good games for it.

$68 preowned. You really can't do much better on eBay. They all end up being that price (without shipping) since people apparently want them as bad as the Amigas The upside to paying that much money was I got Jet Grind Radio for free

I cannot believe in any of you. It's not possible... If I felt like buying a Dreamcast, I'd have to pay nothing less than R$600 (which is around US$250). :death:
