I need some advice........

Okay, i have got enough ram, a decent graphics card, now all i need is a new cpu. So im asking what cpu speed would you recommend in the present time that would help run things smoothly and decently.

in general, AMD mother boards are cheap, so it shouldn't be hard to get a new one...with DDR RAM!

well, i seem to have a socket 370 on my current mobo, so i could proberly chuck in a 1 gig Pentium 3. I could get a whole new mobo That supports athlon chips, but it'll take a whole lot longer for me in saving money for it. Just how much difference is there between A 1gig Athlon And 1 GIg pentium 3 in performance?

well i don't know much about processors, but i don't think there enough of a difference to pay the extra money for a Pentium over an AMD.

I'm gonna get the cheapest Athlon I can. Preferably at least 1ghz. I REALLY need a new CPU.

Aw man, it's so hard to save money when you don't have a job. I figure I'll need about $250 canadian for both a decent CPU and Board. Maybe I'll get a Duron 900.

I would get an amd chip now that ive check the prices my self.
But i cant afford right now to get a new mobo and chip because I already have spent money on my current mobo which ive had for just a month. Itll have to be awhile though. Especially since Intel started phasing out there Pentium 3 chips.

I bought an Abit BE6 back in early november of last year and it supports up to a 850mhz P3. I would rather get an 850mhz P3 than a new board.

i suppose you could do that, as long as 850 mhz will work for you. or, you can just save until you have enough for the AMD and processor.

I'm pretty sure the 850 will do, so long as I can find one. I assume it would be pretty cheap now? With the P4's out and such.
