Everyone w/ Windows XP...

If Windows asks u to upgrade to Nvidia drivers 2312, DON'T DO IT. I just spent 2 days trying to figure out why i was getting such piss poor performance in Max Payne. First i thought it was the new patch they released, so i reinstalled the original version, but i was still getting crap performance. then i thought it was the new sound card drivers...turns out it was the digitally signed 2312 drivers released for nvidia cards that windows xp prompted me to install. Now i'm back to the 2311's and Max Payne is running smoothly again. STAY AWAY FROM THE 2312's!!!!

edit: or maybe it was my Geforce DDR that just can't handle the updates anymore...but i don't think so...

I'm currently using the 23.12 that I downloaded from a site and Max Payne runs just fine, you should give it a try.
Oh and, never download any driver update from M$(unless you don't know where to get other drivers).

The only things I download from M$ are security patches(which create new security holes, funny isn't it?),updates to their progies I own,and Service Packs(SP1 for XP is gonna be big,an ISO of a beta version weighs a little bit more than 400Mb:eyes: ).

Agreed. Never use any videocard drivers from MS. Always get your drivers from Nvidia or trusted hardware sites.

The last drivers that had WHQL certification were the 23.11s, right?

AFAIK Micorosft supplies basic drivers for almost any hardware. As far as videoard go, most of them only have DirectDraw support. In other words, you're going to have a hard time running 3D APIs (Glide, Direct3D, OpenGL) using the MS drivers. Certain hardware work well with the MS drivers (soundcards, network cards, monitors, etc.) but videocards are not one of them (or at least 3D capable videocards).

Yep.

Why you would download grfx drivers from MS in the first place is beyond me...

There's a cracked Voodoo3 Driver for XP around.

It works quite well and fixes most of the bugs with the Voodoo cards.

Try looking for it, i used it myself.

DO NOT use WHQL certified drivers at all. They are generally non-functional.

The 27.42 gave me some errors in Project IGI,so I went back to the 23.12.
