You never use alt+tab to switch between windows? And tab is also used to switch between text windows. Tab has a lot more uses than the select button

I use the "Select" / "back" button for inserting coins into emulators!

Tab is often the map key in games. A useful thing to have the map button so close to the wasd keys instead of somewhere like the 'm' button, where you have to move your hand off wasd or at least look down at the keyboard to press it.

If your running on professional applications, tab IS A MUST have. For my work, we use proprietary software that relies heavily on it. In the right scenarios, tab is 500% faster then a mouse when filling in multiple fields .
