Several hours of arguing over a technicality. That's what I find the most disturbing. I swear, I don't contribute to these forums much anymore for the following reason: Apprehension over the stress which accompanies these confrontations. I get the feeling that perhaps I'm hated here, or some of you hate one another sometimes.

Anyway, I'm in agreement with the overall consensus. I think it's a bad way to deal with your children's tantrums (drug, chemical, smelly perfume, big inflatable dildo, regardless). I think the first step to dealing with it responsibly is to spend some time investigating why the child is having such outbursts.

The chemical your body produces is called response.
There has to be something to trigger your body response.
This trigger can be internal clock, stimuli(nerve impulses from action, not substance), drug(alien substances), or etc.

Just did more reading on the stuff.
Yeah, it's just a damn fragrance. No more harmful than making your kid smell a flower if he's having a fit. No more a drug than perfume or bakery smells.
It's still a parental crutch and shouldn't be relied upon, but it's not a drug. It doesn't require FDA approval.

I hate that song with a passion. It changes my bodies chemical conditions but only because of associations I have at a conscious level.

Drugs however instill the same reactions in anyone. Drugs work by causing the body to change what it's doing ...at an unconscious and molecular level

Cyanide kills people regardless if they believe it will, alcohol gets everyone drunk, viagra gives you a nuclear boner

A nice smelling bottle might cheer most people up but it's not a drug because the reaction comes from conscious interpretation. It's no more a drug than getting smacked or getting hugged
