Go for the DVD-ROM, definitely. And don't worry, your PSX discs will be read just fine.

DVD-ROM, for sure. Any CD may be perfectly readable (unless otherwise stated).

I agree with liquid. 256 is good but 512 is far more respectable. The graphics card is teh same. a radeon will do, but a GeForce will do much better.

boost the ram to at least 512mb¿!?! that's DDR u know. I'm limping along with only 128mb of crappy RDRAM and I can play Max Payne at 1240x1024 res with no slowdowns. I'm not saying that 512mb wouldn't be a good thing, but u would be better off spending that money on at least a GeForce3 Ti200, and if u have the extra cash, go for the Ti500 cuz GeForce3 prices are gonna plummet.

Forget upgrading the memory. You have plenty. You should really concentrate on getting a better video card. I wouldn't change anything else.

that's right standard SDRAM is incompatible with DDR boards...not to mention it won't even fit.

Hmm, heat is the enemy of CPU's! True you don't need a fancy fan, but it should be at least be certified by AMD for the specific processor you are using...Also a second case fan is a good thing too. luckily fans aren't too expensive and probably run you $20 tops.

Most DVD-ROMs read the disks just fine. Pretty much the only ones that don't are a few select laptop brands.

VTB and i both have the same DVD rom, the hitachi GD7500.
AVOID IT LIKE THE PLAGUE, it can't even read the cd we just burned.... it can only read original cd's and dvd's the rest is useless...
