Batman Forever was cliche, Dark Knight was not. At no point in the movie wa I ever 100% sure of what the characters would do next. I only noticed one actor in the movie, Morgan Freeman, and that's because his voice is one of the most recognizable ones on the planet. Just about every character was a character and not an actor - how many movies can you really say that about?

I'm not refering to the acting ability from the actors. I dunno. It just felt like a cliched hero story. Kill me man. I didn't liked it. Cristian Bale sucks. Luckily he was acting behind a mask most of the time. The Joker was cool though. I liked that guy with a half face too. But just after his face got screwed. He grew some balls after that incident. Deciding the fate by luck, hohohoh.

Dunno. I hate Star Trek and i keep hearing this is a Star Trek movie for non star trek fans. And looks like every fan is hating it so thats a good sign for me ^-^b

Agreed with Noja. I can't stand the Star Trek series. But I actually really really want to see the movie. I also heard that the Star Trek movie was made for non-Trekkies. In fact, J.J. Abrams said that he was never a fan and kept that in mind to make the movie for the type of people that could never get into Star Trek.

Well i just watched dragonball evolution and i loved it (i mean the pre ending song the j-pop one), on a more serious note this piece of s... actually had potential (but dont get me wrong its still a piece of s...), the actors should have had difrent names in the first place (like the lead character looked more like a Jake then a Goku); some of the cast, lines and the acting was horrible; the efects could have been good/acceptabil the way they did it, but there choises on how to use them where bad, well not in all situations they did get lucky in some points; some of there decission on to what to stick with from the original was also a downfall to the movie (like Goku's "battle costume" for example);

so i give it 4 out of 10 for potential;

Wasn't bad for a chick flick type movie. Quite a few parts that made me laugh. Seth was a natural as he always is and Robinson and Mewes were great.

Although some of the science doesn't quite match reality (such as black holes not being a threat to starships and red matter) it all fits perfectly well in the Star Trek universe. Remember that this is an alternate reality and that Kirk and Uhura in the original timeline had already dated before she met Spock. This time around Kirk made a bad impression on Uhura so she went for a more logical chioce.

Everyone has different opinions on this...but the majority loves Dark Knight, just as Phil was pointing out.

Suspend disbelief. Science fiction without fiction is just a documentary. Guess what, warp drives aren't real either *gasp*.

Why is this bad? They did this intentionally. They didn't want to be stuck repeating events we already knew would happen in future movies.

Even the way Captain Kirk just happens to run into the future Spock at EXACTLY the right moment (there is no explanation for this, apparently it's just a coincidence).

Actually, Spock explained it. Nero marooned Spock on that planet so Spock would be forced to witness the destruction of Vulcan. As the Enterprise was in the neighborhood when they expelled Kirk, Kirk ended up on the same planet. Were you on a pee break when this was explained?

And also, Spock manages to scare off this HUGE vicious beast with just a tiny little torch. I mean, sure, I can understand that the creature may have never encountered fire before (considering it lives on a world which appears to be frozen all the time) so would be afraid, but I mean come on, that thing was bad ass!

You can scare off a grizzly bear by throwing your arms up in the air and screaming at it. Animals aren't tacticians, they don't evaluate enemies very well. Most animals have a VERY strong instinct that fire=bad!!!!

Even the way a load of useless garbage is displayed on the status screens on the enterprise annoyed me...it seems like much of the garbage on the screens are just special effects, like the menus you get in video games. I wouldn't expect such clutter on the displays aboard a science ship… And also, there's so many cheesy, unnecessary moments. Or at least I thought there was.

On the contrary, many of the technologies I saw on the bridge of the Enterprise are technologies that will be available in our immediate future. I didn't see many useless things at all. Their multi-touch wall interface exists today, you've probably seen similar demos with Microsoft's Surface or some Apple touchscreen concepts.

Not to mention Captain Nero's ship...it just looks ridiculous. Like something straight out of a cheap sci-fi action film, which I guess is exactly what it was. Most ships in the star trek universe have designs made with purpose in mind, I think that's one of the reasons star trek became so popular, because with just a little stretch of the imagination it's almost believable. For example, take the star ship enterprise D...the deflector dish, the sensor array, the phaser array, quantum torpedo launchers, warp nacelles, engineering section, saucer section housing the main bridge and living quarters, etc...it seems to me that there are practical reasons for all sections of the ship. With Captain Nero's ship...well, it just leaves MUCH to the imagination. Maybe that's the idea; You have to fill in the gaps yourself?

Nero's ship was not part of the Romulan empire. Also explained in the movie. It was his. Take a look out on the roads sometime. There's quite a lot of people who have vehicles that weren't built with function and efficiency in mind.
