Like we can choose most things that happen in our lives...

I think it is a bit childish when someone says that didn't want to be born. Is like avoiding responsabilities, you know?

Can we put this argument to rest by saying conclusively that suicide is a cowardly, selfish and stupid act regardless of what some skeptics say

You're both idiots.

So you both are brave and selfless?

Some guy walks into a store you're in with a gun, there are women, elderly, and children. With the both of you being such outstanding brave selfless people will you risk your life to save others?

With these hurricanes crashing in various places there are people who need help. Are you donating? No matter how little you have? You donate to Red Cross, Slavation Army? Did you fight in the military to aid others?

Wait.. wait. Or did you both come up with some bull**** excuses to justify you not doing ****?

And what is so hard about your life? Ohhhh some girl you liked rejected you? Study for some hard test? Tipped your server at a restaurant? Wow. You're so much better than the rest of us. Good show. Awesome. Such behavior is inspiring!

First of all get that stick outta your asses, come down from your pedestal.

Now listen, neither one of you are better than anyone. You both have been depressed in your life. You're not always happy. You've felt hatred, anger. You're just like everybody else. Stop telling yourself bull**** to put yourself above others.

This is what I ****ing HATE about people. Judging others and somehow they get this idea that they're so much better and that they have solutions to everything. ****ing ignorant dumbass retards.

Yes we have been depressed and sad, but the difference is that we had the courage to get back up again and move on with our lives as best we could, we did not give up and decide to end it all.

Every situation is unique. The bravery and cowardness of it varies as much as we do as individuals. Sometimes its neither a matter of bravery or cowardness, but one of pure logical (and sometimes irrational) reasoning.

From the reality of things from their perspective, that is often the case. The truth in the matter is that they often are suffering extraordinarily, feel utter despair and utter hopelessness and that there is absolutely no way to solve whatever caused them to be hopeless.

Until you yourself are in that situation or are fully understand their mind and fully empathize why they feel that way, do not judge. Your only viewing things through your narrow confined preconditioned viewpoint.

I didn't either but I don't go and make it seem like anyone is stupid/weak because they didn't take the action I wanted/would have. Things happen. Not every damn problem has the same effect as the other. Today your girlfriend breaks your heart a month later your entire family dies a car crash. You know why I didn't commit suicide? I thought friends were worth living for. The only reason I don't kill myself now is because I want to experience life away from what drives me to kill myself. I see no point in being alive if you're miserable. It's unhealthy.

This is a smart person. Don't judge. I bet some of made jokes about people for laughs and never once thought it would come across to them.

Whilst I have not had my whole family die in a car crash, my mom did die out of the blue (we were and still are a very close family so it was huge loss)....so I do know a little more about having to get back up on my feet again then just getting dumped by a girl.

I am not saying that makes me right and you wrong, just that my view does not come from as lossless a life as you might think.

In retrospect though I think it's easier losing someone all of a sudden than knowing you will lose them. If you know will lose something you get smashed to the floor and crawling along in despair because you know it won't last, and then once the fatefull day comes you continue crawling and face the munumentous task of getting back up again eventhough all your energy has been spent on the crawling. Whilst when you just lose someone out of the blue the initial shock may be much larger, but after that all that's left is for you to get back up again which is easier as you have not wasted away all you energy before then.
At least that's my opinion...not that it has anything to do with the topic...but o well.

You lost someone so you know what suffering is. Some people fall in a constant state of depression after something like that. Can you really blame them for that?

Considering the overwhelming support I had and they they may not have had, any no

....but I still don't see how taking your life becomes a logical sollution, there must be something which still provides you with enjoyment, which still makes you feel as if nothing is wrong...
I mean regardless of how bad you feel instinct should prevent you from killing yourself...I mean it's just unthinkable, the possible pain, how much can go wrong, how wrong it is...then again I guess I am just too logical and despite my pessimistic nature I guess I am too much of an optemist afterall.

Beyond turning to my christian beliefs I can't really put into words why I feel it's so wrong to take your own life though.

The human survival instinct can be broken. It's not like being lost in some mountains.

Some people can take it and some can't.

It is a mental disease that must be treated. You can't blame them, but you must blame the cause of their suffering. You can't respect a mental disorder. No one wants to be depressed. But, when someone is in that state, everything they do is to feed their sadness. They keep away the ones that like and care for them, and prefer to be blaming the world for their problems and saying how BIG is their suffering. And it keeps on, and on, and on, until some of them really succeed in killing themselves.

I had a girlfriend that "lived" like this (killed herself one year ago) and recently met a girl that acts just like this.

You can't "respect" the decision of a depressed person to kill himself, because in this state he isn't bound to reality. Someone in a hard depression can't think for himself, because he is immersed in that vicious circle I mentioned earlier.

But euthanasia is a completely different history, obviously.

The problem Schumi, is taht ypou are trying to find a logical answer as to why people commit sucuicide which there is none. It's like love. You can see objectively that he guy clearly can leave the girl who is making his life a hell. Then you talk to him and even if he knows the logical thing to do he insists in being with her.

With suicide and depression is the same. There is a logical answer but people involved can see it objectively and find a better solution.

Squall and Gamefreak, stop being a prick. One thing is not to agree on something and other totally different is to LOWER THE REST OF THE PEOPLE WHO DON'T THINK LIKE YOU. Get down of your F.. pedestals. Learn to proper word your sentences unless to offend others was your original intention.

Listen up bub! There's a difference between committing suicide because your gf ditched you or something and because you wanted to save another person's life. Call it suicide if you want to but the kinda suicide we're talking about here is the one where you're depressed and want to take the easy road out by hanging yourself off a fan or something rather then bravely facing the hardships of life. If you think suicide is such a heroic act, then just go and hang yourself or something! Got it you dumbass!
