Flash onlines tutorials/ book guides

I've just finished my first year of 6th form and next year in ICT I am going to be studying multimedia which will involve using Flash CS3, does anybody have any good tutorials for first time users or books that i can use. I just want to get a good knowledge about using this software before I start the course

I also want to learn Flash and would also be interested in some beginner tutorials.

I would highly suggest that you familiarize yourself with vectors before anything though. Most nice Flash stuff heavily relies on vector artwork, and using vector software is pretty much the same in any app that you use. So if you learn the basics of vectors in one app, that knowledge can be carried over to another app. Start out with learning how to create/manipulate vectors in Inkscape (free vector software) or Illustrator. Once you get that down packed, at least you should have that part of Flash out of the way. Next step would be to learn how to script Flash movies. That subject is something that I am unfamiliar with though.

"Learning ActionScript 3.0" is a good book if you want to start out with ActionScript 3.0. That said... I just got into the darned book like... a few weeks ago, and now I know how to create my own game in Flash... at the very least.

But that aside... You should start out with ActionScript 3.0, since it's the main selling point of Flash CS3.

Or if you are just too green... (as in you don't have much experience with coding), then maybe ActionScript 2.0 it is. Whichever one works best, I guess. But definitely... learn ActionScript if you want to create a website... or some kind of interface, and not some boring movie that keeps looping.

P.S.: If you wonder why I classified ActionScript 2.0 and ActionScript 3.0 on two different difficulty levels, let's just say... they are vastly different. Well, they contain the core elements of Flash, but... ActionScript 2.0 is pretty much attached to your movie clips/scenes, and are pretty globally accessible, whereas ActionScript 3.0 is like a standalone language that is like a module you can plug into your movie clip. Think Java.

Photoshop Tutorials and Flash Tutorials - Tutorialized

Back in the day when I did software design in school I used this place alot to get a feel for how programs would work. It is not brilliant, but could be of some help.
