Manga discussion
If you remember the anime thread, this one is about manga ;p
Which mangas did you read recently or appreciate, by the way?

Shaman King is the latest series I finished. Differs from the anime quite of bit of course, but still good nontheless.
And there's too many titles for me to list that I like I much more prefer reading manga then watching anime

I have read like less than 20 manga in total.
Ranma 1/2, Trigun (I have not yet read Maximum allthough I have it), Flame of Recca, Zombie Powder (which was discontinued), Naruto, Akira, Cowboy Bepop and Appleseed. I started reading Love Hina, but then stopped as I did not have the other volumes same goes for Great Teacher Onizuka. And I read the first volume of .Hack Legend of the twilight. I have also read one volume of AI I love you. I had also been reading Maccross 7 TRASH but I got over it... Manga is a lot harder to come by here in South Africa (at least where I live) and it costs about the same as anime...and seeing as I get more out of anime, I usually go for anime instead. thats a big list Proto
btw, i've always wondered if comedy manga are actually funny. it seems like School Rumble would loose all its humor if it didn't have colored animation, music, and voice acting. same goes for Ouran Highschool Host club.

Manga have a slightly different way of being funny, but they can be just as funny as an anime if not more so due to the lack of censoring and the possible missing of something due to the rapid action of an anime..

censoring is sometimes more funny IMO.
for instance, if in a comedy anime the character gets mad and just says "BEEP!!!" **** @#$@ its funny. but if you actually know the bad-words the character is saying, then it looses its humor. Quote:
It reminds me of a less-funny Ouran Highschool Host Club. i rate it 4/5 stars, whereas i rate Ouran 5/5

Well yes...but for instance Dragonball when it got dubbed lost a lot of it's humour due to censoring....the Manga still has all of that...
O yeah...I forgot...I also read Dragonball.

the original japanese uncut version of anime is usually given alot of freedom with its content. But in comedy anime, sometimes in order to be funny they censor things... similar to in FFVII, Barret says stuff like @@#$!! all the time. and its funny.

Still...the manga is usually the complete original....so it's even better than the japanese uncut version of the anime...
Not to mention manga is usually not forced to deal with time constraints.....

I liked the Mai Hime and Mai Otome manga better then the anime. They filled the anime up with a lot more drama...more then I care to have in a series
