MMORPG amd MMOFPS - What do you play?

Hi guys (and gals if any), i have no idea whether there is a similar thread on this, i searched and could not find anything.

So here is the question,

What MMORPG and MMOFPS Games do you play? And is there any better than the ones I play?

Reason for this, is because I want to look for something different other than the games listed below that i play. If you can think of games WAYYYY better than the ones listed below, lemme know and i will try em out. But this thread is not just for me, its for every1 so post what you play! Can be anything OTHER than MMORPG and MMOFPS if you want .

MMORPG
World of Warcraft -> I got to level 30, then this game bored the shat out of me. Can someone point me out to a better game please!!

MMOFPS
Enemy Territory -> Love this game to bits, play it for 4 years and still aint bored :P

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars -> This game is... ok.. totally different from the old enemy territory. I dont play this much though, it can get boring.

Battlefield 1942, 2, 2142 -> Love these games aswell, I played a bit too much last year, so i got a bit bored with them, so i went back to enemy territory. Might get back to em again soon.

WAR
Armed Assault -> God i love this game, not related to multiplayer, just thought i'd post it to show the other game that i play :P.


Oh yeh, and i DO HAVE A LIFE :P. I play these every now and then (when im bored with nothing to do, or when i got free time).

I played Lineage1, lineage2, and maple story, but I realized that MMORPG is just a waste of time and money
and time is money, so I had been wasting money for two years before I quited MMORPG completely...

Lineage... i heard they were good, but theyre baldurs gate style right? And plus free mmorpg's tends to be more crappier than the pay to play ones... Lemme know if im wrong :O.

L2 is actually kinda crappy...due to the massive amount of bots...
well all MMORPG's can go to hell because they all have millions of bots in them...and they are no players, they are people to sell game items/money on ebay for real money LOL
It basically ruin the fun since some 'rich' people buy those things from e-bay and these 'farmers' don't care about getting banned, since they will just make some new accounts.

The MMOFPS you listed weren't actually MMOFPS, just big scale multiplayer FPS. MMOFPS are kinda rare, I know there was a old one that I forgot the name and Tabula Rasa claims to be a MMOFPS (which it's not really, the mechanic is virtually the same as any RPG, just with little modification).



Anyway, I wouldn't call Lineage close to Baldur's Gate, at all. If a MMO was close to BG I'd play it like hell. And I thought Lineage was Pay-to-Play too, maybe they removed it ever since I stopped following it, but I remember it being P2P at first.

And gold buyers sucks, but I've never seen them actually RUINS a game.
The only thing that will ruin a game is when the devs themselves decide to start playing stuff to players. Example : The MMO is free, but you don't have access to higher-end content if you don't pay. That's where I see "money for power" being a real PITA.
Gold sellers/buyers is lame, but I've never seen them have a huge impact.

I've played to lvl 70 on WoW and hardcore raided quite a bit (was in the best guild of our server, PvE wise and best PvP guild too of our faction, probably not of the whole server, but at least 2-3 of whole server).

The only REAL impact I've seen from gold buyers was lazy people buying themselves some gears, but it doesn't make them any better player, and gears that can be bought isn't as good as gear that you have to earn by playing.

The other only real impact was how some of the biggest guilds in the world would buy gold to help save time (instead of farming to get ingredients to make pots).

Oh yeh! course.. the battlefield series is defo not MMOFPS.. but nvm lol, i'll leave em at that because it's still easy to understand.

Tabula Rasa... is it worth it, even if its MMOFPSRPG or whatever.
I heard that LOTRO is getting better and better and better. Does anyone play it?
Also what is this final fantasy XI like?

Tabula Rasa is kinda the normal RPG but they replaced swords with guns, and the fighting is a little more active than other MMOs. But the game is still a lot more MMORPG than MMOFPS.

True MMOFPS :

Face Of Mankind -> The game is undergoing a massive redesign since they couldn't get enough players, and want to change some stuff. The game was actually VERY VERY NICE.
But only had one major flaw imo :
The action was too rare. Whenever it happened it was AWESOME and had some of the most fun that could be had. But it just happened too rarely.

Except when a big war happened. I remember a siege happening on one of the planet that lasted for something like 24-48 hours.

It's fun, it feels a lot more like a "war" then every other MMORPG and the game was just great... But whenever calm would come over, it would feel like ghost-town for a while.

It does feel more real that way tho. We can't expect people to wage war 24h/24 7d/7. And it adds more importance to the fights when they actually happen.

Thankfully enough, the game has more than just that. I'm waiting to see what the new stuff will add to the game when they re-launch it.

Planetside -> Old MMOFPS, looked quite interesting but just bored me to death.

Huxley -> A game that has been awaited for quite a while and which looked nice. The release date was 2007, but we get almost no info on it.



And for LOTRO ->

I'm playing it atm. What I like the most about the games is how they release a lot of updates and add a lot of stuff, not just new raids and dungeons.

I used to play Half Life 2 deathmatch online,

I stopped because I was getting fed up of being accused of cheating.
noobs can't accept I'm good at the game and they're not

even explaining how VAC anti-cheat servers work doesn't stop
the 'zomg u liek chets and kills ever1'

edit: I should also say I eventually macro'd "My cheating is Practice, try it sometime" to the key

If you don't like WoW for an MMORPG, then you probably won't like the other ones, they're more of a grind then WoW is. Although FFXI is excellent story wise, it's rather hard (meaning impossible) doing stuff solo.

Well, some MMOs offer good PvP, LOTRO has a nice PVP-Side to it.

I'm awaiting Darkfall, IF THEY EVER RELEASE IT.
(game ain't vaporware as was proved many times with demos to some conventions and multiple videos/screenshots)

I just wish they'd get their publishing deal done so they can start the dang beta They're playing hard to get since they have the opportunity to self-publish, which is only making the wait longer. But in the end I guess it's better for them and, as such, for players.

ive played just about every mmo ever made. the only ones i sorta liked a bit, were pristontale, ragnarok, lineage 2, rose online, and mabinogi. ive always wanted to try ff11 tho. WOW is the most boring thing ever.

The money/item sellers dominate the player vs mobs, and the money/item buyers dominate the pvp...
and you, the real player who doesn't want to spend idiot, huge amount of money for nothing but a pair of gaiters of non existence and who doesn't want to get banned, are stuck in the middle of doing nothing but chatting...

I've found those things to be more boring since they had too much of a emphasis on grinding. Huge grinding.

That's quite possible, but that would be the only game where I'd see them being such a big problem. That's the devs fault for not giving less power to money too or making stuff better.

MMOs are all grindfests. The best way to play MMOs is with a group of friends - then there's a chance of enjoyment.

Most of them are grindfest, but saying that ALL are isn't true. The most popular are, but there are MMOs out there focusing on something else then grinding.
(MMOs focusing on PvP or social interactions alone show that you can have a MMO without grindfest-only)

Exactly, I think multi-player games in general are fun if you actually know the person IRL.
Grinding is just turning you into a bot and killing your actual physical health
