People Insisting Piracy

Most stupid people here in our country depends on pirated OSes ,Games ,Media whatever just to save money.

And then one day When I Meet up with in my friend's house, someone told me, "You should've have bought a pirated one you stupid, that's too expensive!".

I like the Idea on saving money but with people like these They won't understand like anyone in my case. I just don't want to have any regrets when I get something I really wanted so I make sure I'll guarantee it'll Work It won't matter how much does it costs. How would you reply to these jerks when you are someone in my case? I'm just finding some of your opinions

whatever your reasons or other people's, the people from this forum do not really care about them (the reasons/justifications/wathever). to each their problems. Lisitng 'reasons/justifications' here would not guarantee sympathy.

not nice? well, there are rules here, and people are suppose to abide by them. for a reason. many of them actually.

I don't understand the point of this thread? Is this just another troll thinking he's funny?
Piracy isn't right, but piracy is also getting any software, whether it's just released or released on a system that no longer is selling. If you have a Gameboy ROM you didn't dump from your own Gameboy, you're a pirate just like if you downloaded Half Life 2.

The rules of this forum stipulate that you don't discuss piracy. If people wish to pirate games, whether they be Game Boy Cartridges or PC games that just were created this year, they can do so and discuss it elsewhere.

I, for one, could care less what other people do regarding piracy, it's not my problem, nor my business to tell others how to live.

Yeah, those scum downloading Atari 2600 ROMS are so disrespectful of Atari...

You do realize that most people involved in emulation are involved in piracy on some level or another?

'k "Don't download this ROM"...

I purchase my games because I want to support the industry. And of course I only play great games, so I absolutely want to help the awesome developers of those games.

In the long run downloading is like a double edged sword, because if everyone starts saying: "well only "I" do it and because its just little old me its not going to affect the publishers and developers profit margines", if everyone started thinking like that it could really damage of the videogame industry.

This is exactly what happened in Hong Kong with the music industry there. After 1999 because of rampant bootlegging, there is pretty much no Hong Kong based music industry anymore.

Piracy is rampant, there's no question of that but the motives behind are what counts to me. piracy for the sheer hell of it is one thing but if your downloading an album/game/movie to see how good it is before buying it, I personally class that as fair since you don't want to get something then find out it was a waste of money because it's crap (example: I got stung like that with enter the matrix on PC when it came out. one of my biggest regrets purchase-wise so far). IMO if your going to test something, test the full product rather than a small portion (e.g demo, trailer, free track) because as an example:

"X" band brings out a new album and releases a free track to tempt people to buy the album, that track might be the shining star amongst the dregs that they call an album. either:

1. download free track, buy album and when you find it's crap, regret it
OR
2. download album free, not like it, delete it.

with 1 you wasted money that could have been used for a better purpose but with 2 you didn't.

this argument could be used for movies and games as well but I'm not going to use this to promote mass piracy. if you download a full album then actually buy it if you like it, that's fine since your not going to regret that purchase.

I don't totally support piracy but for those that do...

At the very least it'd be a good idea in the long term to buy at least a some of your titles so that the games industry can be supported. Each year a larger and larger % of kids are growing up to become computer and warez proficient and high speed internet is becoming cheaper and faster so that will continue to eat away at if not the console market (which requires extra circumventive measures...), then definetly at the pc gaming market.

With this enhanced technology and knowldege whats need is a code of ethics. Otherwise all media based industries could be in trouble like what happened in Hong Kong.

Oh get off your high horse! How many people do you think own and dumped every ROM for MAME? CPS3 emulation? NES, Gameboy, Genesis emulation?

This is what I get a laugh out of, this site has a right to have rules and follow them, but don't try to pretend everyone in emulation has legal rights to everything on their hard drive, that's absurd!

Except me, I own every game I have a ROM of!
