Nothing 'thinks' about the vps.Its just what the games set the hardware to (i just report back the values).Ikaruga does no set a refresh rate, so it uses bios'es default.

A possibility. Can I ask for a short explanation on what the new PowerVR options (Paletted textures, Sorting, Modifier Volumes), and their settings, do? I'm only familiar with sorting, and I'm not quite sure whats the difference between per strip and per triangle.

The synthesized sound in Skies of Arcadia is broken with the Chanka AICA. It runs very fast and then cuts off. The Scroll Lock doesn't have any effect on this problem. The sound runs fine with the null AICA but lacks many instruments which the old Chanka AICA would play. Dead or Alive 2 crashes after the first fight with null AICA but not Chanka AICA. The menu sound effect sticks and repeats in Virtua Fighter 3tb with null AICA. If this bug didn't happen the sound in VF3tb is practically perfect.

With Modifier Volumes set to Volumes, the shadows in Soul Calibur look normal but go through the character as shown in the attached screenshot.

I'm glad you released this BETA though

Its bound to have problems but thats when constructive feedback helps

Thanks for your hard work and efforts. Much appreciated Some people just don't realise that this is just a hobbyist project and that you owe nothing to anyone and do this for free.

Grandia 2 now has excellent sound with the Chanka sound plugin (yeah, we can hear sound effects!). I only have to reach the part where the emulator would crash in the previous version (during some special moves).

I will also try to test Skies of Arcadia and Shenmue.

This is exactly the same thing as Ikaruga does.

Sort per triangle seems to make some effects work better, like in Metropolis street racing, which is better now. Also you can play Jet set radio with a joypad, Shenmue 2 has very few glitches, Skies of Arcadia has fewer glitches, Sonic adventure 2 is playable and doesn't seem to crash.

Also swap disk with utopia doesn't seem to work.
Various games speed improvements are noticable.

For games that run at 50Hz/50FPS like Ikaruga the current solution is to change the cable type in the settings to VGA. This will force the BIOS and game to run at 60Hz and you will get the full 60FPS.

This will not work on all games as not every game supports the VGA mode like the PAL Skies of Arcadia.

Another tip. I just tried Street Fighter III W Impact (a 240p game) which only showed half the image with the nullPVR but if you set the cable type to VGA the game displays properly so if you run a 240p game and it doesn't show properly, try to run it in VGA mode.

Has anyone noticed any difference when playing with the options? Except for the Aspect Ratio, I have not noticed any difference in graphics when I change any of the other settings.

Grandia 2 does not crash now. I'll try to see if it does during any of the advanced moves.
Skies of Arcadia battle start effect now works fine. -=EDIT=- Sound plays a bit faster than normal (you first listen to effects and then see them) now matter what value the buffer size has.

I waited such a long time for this release.

But Nulldc keeps on crashing on me.

I am running :

win xp pro sp2
dell latitude d600 laptop
pentium centrino cpu
750 megs of memory

The only errors on the console windows are :

Error in .\dc\mem\sb.cpp:sb_WriteMem:423 -> Write to System Control Regs , not
implemented , addr=5f68a4,data=0
Error in .\dc\mem\sb.cpp:sb_WriteMem:423 -> Write to System Control Regs , not
implemented , addr=5f68ac,data=0

Windows kept on poping up a window saying :

nullDC_100b1_5.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

I have followed the instructions to install :

- Direct X
- Visual Studio Runtimes
- winpcap

NullDc Beta 1.0 is working and running games on my pc but not version 1.5

Try running the mmu exe first. The normal exe kept crushing on me too (but I don't remember the reason). The mmu exe would run fine, and after shutting down the emulator once then the normal exe would also run fine.

Got an error. I Ctrl+C'd the error box:

---------------------------
nullDC v1.0.0 beta 1.5/mmu (built Nov 4 2007@20:30:55)
---------------------------
Fatal error :MapleDeviceDefinition* FindMapleDevice(char* mfdn) failed
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

Maple = the input plugin; when I disable input no error appears.

EDIT: Now no error appears at all, even if I select a plugin. However, when I go to play a game, I get "Unhandled exeption while Initing nullExtDev (Nov 4 2007) plugin-"

Woo! Been waiting for the day I find some nullDC news on the main page! Good work team and, as always, big thanks! Can't wait to try Shenmue out.

A quick question though, have any command line parameters been added in this version for launching disc images? If not, is it planned for any future releases? Just curious...

Thanks again you guys.

Tested it yesterday.
Great work.

But, is there a way to disable the Chankast AICA plugin to work like the older one? (with no FPS limit, but sound would be not synced with the game but limited to 100%).

I mean-i get about 75% of speed in the games, so if sound synchs with the game-it's f***ed up (too slow in game, too fast in menus), and the older plugin was playing sounds at normal DC speeds, ignoring th video, so the games were playable slower, with normal sound.

Any suggestions how to do that?

P.S. - i think this emu is incompatible with radeon 9600XT - i was having a lot of spikes in Sonic Adventure 2... now there's even more...

ok i seem to have found out the problem to my nulldc crashing ...

it seems like I cannot select nullPVR as the graphics plugin ???

If I select NullPVR as the plugin, it will crash on being run

if I select Chankast video PVR it will run but becomes slow ...

anyone have any idea why I cannot use NullPVR ???

Thanks
