Windows Vista problem

Windows Vista is so annoying... Good thing it isn't mine, it's my friend's. ;D He wants me to install and set up nullDC on his laptop for him.

So here's my problem. I think it resides in the nullPVR plugin. See, the Chankast plugin works, but it's glitchy and unplayable. The nullPVR plugin makes the emu crash when I boot it.

Perhaps this is a DX10 issue? I tried updating the drivers and it still doesn't work. I tried admin mode, disabling DWM as well as Windows XP compatibility and such. All crashing.

If the problem resides in DX10, I think it would be wise to release a DX10 based plugin in the future for the Vista users. It's funny though, that other users don't report this problem even when running in Vista. Maybe the problem is the Intel 945 then?

Does his laptop have some crappy Intel integrated graphics? If so, that's probably the problem. NullDC works perfectly on Vista Premium here, even after trying 3 different GPUs (don't ask).

I run nullDC on my laptop, a Dell Inspiron E1705 running Vista x64. Aside from the (documented in readme.txt) glitchy sound it seems to run just fine.

There is currently no such thing in this world as DX10 on a buyable laptop, so that's not the issue in any way, shape or form. Vista will happily run DX9 for apps and hardware that use it.

Intet GPU's ruin your game playing experience and prevent you from playing most games. That is why I got rid of my laptop and is the reason noone should buy a system with an Intel GPU unless you don't play games or all the games are either really old or are 2d.

Well that's odd. Intel 945's shouldn't be bad to the point of not being able to run a DreamCast graphics engine.

nullPVR uses vertex and pixels shaders , its quite likely they are not supported by it.

Hmm... Does Aero use vertex and pixel shaders? If the problem really resides in the card not supporting these, is there any chance for a non-shader version of the plugin? Granted, it might not look as nice, but it should be playable.
