Problem/Question about Skies of Arcadia (not a nullDC problem, likely)

Okay, it seems that the game randomly crashes when exiting the menu. I can reproduce it by hammering the menu button (which will open and close it really fast, causing a crash after a short while, the crash might happen even if you don't 'mistreat' the menu). The crash : screen turns black, sound continues, flash file corrupts. Now the thing is : it happened to me in nullDC, chankast and demul (although i first noticed it in nullDC, weird). it happened to me even after replacing the bios files with fresh ones. it happened to me with the echelon version and the version that went through that fix program available at emutalk (SOAPatcher). So I'm really at a loss as to what the cause of this might be...
Oh and with nullDC, there's a "Error in .\dc\mem\sh4_internal_reg.cpp:ReadMem_area7:572 -> Unkown Read from Area7 , addr=1ffffff0" error EACH time i exit the menu...

I have Echelon release, work fine here. Some minor graphics glitches.
Look at the screenshot thread (page 3) I post some screenshots.
I play for 1h , until the Pirate Village, without a single crash. enter the menu change equipment/magic etc.

is there no error written in the console whenever you exit the menu (aka, a line about a error being added in the black "dos box" thingie, but not affecting the gameplay in anyway)? if you just stand and rapidly press menu button (to enter/exit menu) for about a minute or so, does the game not crash?
If so, any idea what's the problem i'm experiencing? There's only one ECHELON release after all, right?
Thanks.

I get graphical glitches like this occasionally:

Also I can't see which spell I'm picking in battle, and get a few other glitches as well.

...
Can some one PLEASE check something very simple for me?
Enter and exit the menu 30 times (enter and exit a tiny bit more times just to be sure you didn't miscount), does the game crash?! (yes, I checked the crash I was having a couple more times and realised it's not very random, always happens after 30 menu accesses)

You are unable to see which spell you're picking in battle if you use the nullPVR plugin. If you use Chankast's video they should show up just fine, although using that comes with its own graphical issues in some areas. I haven't figured out how to stop the weird transparent menu showing up in the screen glitch, as of right now I don't think there is a way.
