I hate the way the pandora looks, its so...unrefined.

As a suggestion to the memory problem on the psp, couldn't you use virtual memory? Mac has been using virtual memory as a way to decrease their dependancy on physical ram for years now and its been semi-effective.

Is it possible to use such a medium on the PSP, since you could have up to 8gigs of memory.

I've been doing psp homebrew for quite some time. I've even been developing 2 homebrew game, but its all more complicated than it would seem to be. First you would have to use a exploit to access a psp's flash and rewrite it to one of the many custom firmwares. After that you would have to tweak the system to suit your needs. Once thats done you have a shell to test your development on. You have many coding options, all of which have to be compiled into eboots. Testing could take some time tweaking and adapting to atleast have a proof of concept.

Lites have their advantages and disadvantages. They have more memory and can be played on a large TV but they also are harder to exploit and have to use a special battery to access their flash. They have no 1.50 kernal(a kernal which is the most used), so it has to be flashed into whatever firmware you want but it is still unstable. So most lite apps are in 1.0/3.xx kernal.

I wish you the best of luck in this possible project but I would recommend you do alittle research into the homebrew scene and see if it interests you.

PSP's cpu has no TLB so virtual memory is not possible using hardware. Its possible using s/w methods but thats slower.I dont even know if it will get fullspeed without memory problems, so i'l only target the lite psp for start.

True. It is not so sleek as say a psp but it is fast and has an open development environment.

I would assume so but there are so many limitations for the user. I guess you would use a linux based OS, and thus would then depend on homebrew developed for that system.

I dont like that way the screen was designed, I looks like a bad DSlite.

Now if you were to build up from the design about you would not only create something practical but beautiful.

And something that is patented and would require license fees. Slide out keyboards are out.

I remember reading reading that Raz doesn't like linux, but the GP2X runs linux natively although I doubt it has the hardware capacity to emulate Dreamcast or any other equivalent or greater console at playable speeds.

Well the picture above is not an actual product but an artistic concept pic done for a gaming website. I was just stating my admiration for the design.

I always thought that a having such a large screen and not using it as touch screen would be a complete waste of space. If I were the designer I would have used the screen as a touch screen and then created somekind of touch screen keyboard.

This would allow you to have a smaller machine while maintaining full function. Of course the main problem then is that if there were to be some kind of software failure, then you wouldn't be able to fix it until you get back home and hook it up to a keyboard(bluetooth/usb). But then again not that many people would have the technical know how to fix it themselves.

I'm just stating my disgust on the pandora's design. While it does have its subtle charm it fades away quickly.

drkIIRaziel you did an exellent job with nullDC , thanks alot I was wondering if it were possible to emulate some of the VMU sidegames that come with some of the games like with skies of arcadia? That might be a stupid question but I dont know. I just play the emulators and games I dont understand how they are put together.

If you ever get rid of the x86 and windows dependency (the emu is windows only right?), it would be kinda cool to attempt to get it running on the PS3. Anyone with a PS3 can install Yellow Dog Linux (and various other distros).

Unfortunately though, it does not allow access to hardware acceleration for whatever reason (so everything would have to be sofware emulated). I found the website a while ago of a group trying to get past the restriction, but I don't know how much progress they've made.

But the fact is, if you could get it running on a PSP you could almost certainly get it going on the PS3.

I agree, compressed images would be quite nice Some games like Ikaruga can be compressed immensely, saving lots of HDD space!

You can compress them with Windows and they work fine - usually shaves off a few hundred MBs.

I get far better results with 7zip than I do with the internal Windows compression thing. Using that also makes them trickier to move around, and limits my ability to move them to other filesystems in their compressed state.

drkRaziel, are you honestly persuing/working on a PSP port of nullDC, or was that just talking? I appreciate your work with the PC versions of nullDC and really really anticipate a PSP one!

A DC Emu on the Pandora and Beagle would be great, but all developer on gp32x
are saying that this is impossible. Maybe Mr.Raziel can only do this.

The Beagleboard is based on the same prozessor and specs like the Pandora
but cost only 149$. It will start maybe in june with selling to everybody.

Zodt has already a working PS1 Emu working FF7 and other games with over 200 FPS.
