Input (Controller) Plugin sucks !

Hey guys,
The best GBA emulator is VBA, but when it comes to Link Mode, it sucks. That's when I found NO$GBA. Everything was great expcept one thing: Controller Plugin.

I will explain it on example, Shining Soul II (Action RPG). There, in order to perform some special attack, you have to hold down A button for some time. While 2 players play on keyboard, and both charge their attacks, only one of them will be able to move, because on keyboard you can press only 3 keys at once.

And what now? It's easy - Joypad/Gamepad (don't know the difference)
But there again, NO$GBA has very stupid input plugin. For 1 player playing on keyborad it's okay but for 2, one keyboard and one gamepad, it gets more complicated, because there is no way to set the gamepad user.

When I put in my gamepad, it controls the 1st player, and when I put in my friend's gamepad, it controls the 2nd player (even if my gamepad is not inserted). I would like MY FRIEND'S gamepad to control SECOND player, and MY gamepad to control THIRD PLAYER. I tried everything except hacking and couldn't do it...

Whoever invetned NO$GBA, PLEASE change input plugin in next version. I would like it to be same as in VBA or Project64 - simple and clean.
THX

Just switch the controllers around with each other. Or screw around with the usb ports to see which one is the first player etc.

Nereid666,

That's your opinion. It's not your decision to make. It's working perfectly fine to me and everything is good so far.

seems like more and more people pop up complaining about the emulator instead of asking for help, seems like becoming other forums sites if this keeps going.

Try VBALink - it is the same VBA, but vith link support.
And you can link between different versions of games too (like Megaman Battle Network 3 Blue and White).

I hope everyone who reads it know that it's only MY opinion.

Well that's true I'm complaining, but in some way, I also give a new idea about controler plugin, which could be used in new version. At least I think so... By the way, it's topic about controller plugin, your comment is a little off topic...

I use it but only for single player games. I know it's possible to play multiplayer with VBALink, but NO$GBA is better. VBA sometimes disconnects, lags, and game speed is lowered or some frames are skipped. In NO$GBA, when playing on multiplayer, 1st player's window works perfectly (just as in single player) and rest players have only a little frame skip, but it's not such a big problem.

Tried switching USB ports, it has nothing to do with them. When I insert MY gamepad (Mantra, MM-811) NO$GBA sets it as first player, and when I insert MY FRIEND'S gamepad (e5, CP-U501/RE00556) NO$GBA sets it as second player, doesn't matter if it's in USB port #1 or #2, NO$GBA always sets them the same.

Well, it was only proposition for next NO$GBA input plugin. Thx for reading and sorry if it sounded like a big complain. Everyone wants NO$GBA to get better, right? I only pointed what sucks (in my opinion!) in this emu.

AFAIK, no$gba allows play multiplayer only on one machine (which is near impossible without gamepads, because keyboard caqnnot have more than 3 keys pressed on the same time) and only with same cartridge (i.e. no MMBN3 Blue and White cross-link or pokemon trading between different versions). These 2 facts made my decision to transfer link play to VBAlink instead of no$gba.

no$gba is good when you have a friend with gamepad in your room, and you want to play Pyou Pop or something similar. In all other cases VBALink is a better solution.
