The screens don't need to be oriented vertically for emulation

So i've tried No$gba and it's very impressive... but right now for the DS emulation, i've got my monitor sitting on its side, running 640x480 resolution and the wonderful NDS2XGL2 plugin. this is the only way i can figure out how to get the thing to take up the majority of my screen space ...

There is no logical reason, however, that the screens need to be oriented vertically in the emulator. PC monitors are oriented horizontally, why not place the screens side by side? or better yet, have their orientation able to be set by the user. (seperate draggable windows anyone?)

just my 2c

is it really something the developer of nds2xgl2 can "fix"? honestly i think it needs to be screamed to the developers of ALL the DS emulators, so i don't see this thread as a waste of space

its not really that important, if you ask the majority of this forum i think they would want improvement on emulation than than splitting the screen in if you want the screen separated use ideas it has that function

and because im sugessting to post on that thread is that is focuses on the ds screen like resizing and rotation and i know the rotation doesnt do much than flip it but the developer of no$gba is busy making the emulation better than than making the screen one foot apart each other

...that's the way a DS is...that's why it should not be any different...emulators try to be as close to the real thing as possible...not change the original for a few peoples dislikes.

iDeaS can split it's windows by the way.

It most certainly has to be vertically by default, as some games use scenes consisting of both screens actually BEING vertically, like for example, Sonic Rush.

Running through a loop might get you into the upper screen there. If that screen is to the right of the "lower" one, don't you think it'd be confusing?

Of course, emulators should also have the option to rotate the screen(to make games like the Brain Age ones and Hotel Dusk playable), and even separate the windows, if possible, for customization.

So no, default basically HAS to be the vertical screen setting in a good chunk of cases.

The default SHOULD also have a proprtionate empty space between the 2 screens (just like in a real DS) to make games like sonic rush even less confusing. no$gba doesn't, though. Hopefully nds2xgl3 (next version) will, though.

Some games look better with a seperation, some look better pretty much connected, we just need the option to go from one to another. Nothing wrong with wanting the conveniences.(sp?)

Sadly talking about it here wont make it happen "there".
