hey i just want to point out i just completed dragon quest monsters joker with no problems glitches or slowdowns and i really appreciate being able to play a ds without buying one i will support this project with all the money i can give from time to time and i think anyone else who feels this way should do the same cuz i have no problem with it GOOO NO$GBA TEAM

I think its illegal to own the emulator without owning the actual DS console

It's not illegal. Illegal is to have roms not emulators.

...you need a DS to be able to dump the original cartridge

Strickly speaking, it's NOT illegal to own an emulator and not own an Nintendo DS yourself.

However, it IS illegal to own a commercial games ROM dump (obtained by other means other than dumping it yourself) and not own the original catridge yourself.

Correct me if I am wrong (I'm not trying to break forum rules here), but it is possible that people may buy the game catridge themselves, borrow their friends' DS for dumping, and play the dumped game using an emulator.

what is difference from dumping the rom from you original cartridge or download the rom you have the original cartridge??

That is a good point. No one will be able to tell the difference if it's the same exact game (same region and exact version) and if it's a perfect dump.

There is no difference (as mentioned already, if it's a perfect dump). Therefore it should not be against forum rules to be talking about the word "ROM" - it's only against the rules when the user is illegally posessing the ROM ("illegally" in this case means that they are not owning the original catridge).

I'm pretty sick of reading messages about particular forum members being overly sensitive as soon as someone mentions the word "ROM" here. Get it right, provided that people are not discussing how to illegally download the ROM or the like, mentioning the word "ROM" is NOT against the forum rules.

Oh come on, is not like lot of members here are such angels I bet that at least a 25% of them doesn't own a DS yet they use the emulator.

In my opinion he didn't broke any rule since he didn't posted any download link, nor asked where he could get X game, how do you know if he didn't had a DS and it got fried and was playing the game on the emulator since right now he can't buy a new one?

I agreed with dbarza. Not everyone own a DS yet. Maybe you dont have one and use the emulator. Nothing's wrong with that.

at least 95% of the worlds population would not buy a game for a system they don't own or if they would, would be getting it in the very near future (not really enough time to complete a game)...(the other 5% being retarded or buying them as presents)
