.sav issue?

First, I wanted to say that the new version of no$gba is amazing and well-worth the 2.50! For those that haven't donated yet, it's definitely checking out if you're still contemplating.

However, I was recently playing through both Contra 4 and Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow. After I switched back from Contra 4's save type (EEPROM .5k) to Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow's save type (EEPROM 8k), I loaded up the game only to find my data was no longer there.

I've already tried looking at the .sav files in the battery folder but to no avail--is it possible my save data has been lost through the save type changes in no$gba?

No$gba does all of its writing to the save file once you close the emulator, or so I hear. If the emulator crashes or otherwise closes abnormally, the save won't be written. So make sure it's closing normally. Other than that, I haven't an idea of what could be wrong.

I have first hand encounter of this problem, a lot of times. No$GBA will only write to the .sav files once it closes. It will save the games in a volative save type before writing it to the .sav.

If it crashes before the volatile save type is written, the save game is gone.

Crashing can ruin save files

I was happily playing zoids legacy on No$gba 2.5 at *2 auto speed and i went to change the colour of my zoid...i wanted a all black or all white team.
It went into the colour menu but when i hit down to choose any colour but the original it crashed and i lost my save file (had to sart again cause of course i didn't know about snap shots then).

Also, i have battery files (.sav) and snapshots (SNA) from version 2.5 that won't (or i just don't know what to do) work in version 1.9. I put the battery file (2.5) into 1.9 and it still won't work. Also 1.9 usually reads the snapshots but its just an image and won't actually work.
I had this problem because i wanted to use the BIOS file i have that i got with 1.9 (and works) but when i put it into 2.5 (the correct place) i usually just get a grey screen.

If anyone knows the solution to this problem or even a um certain file that runs with 2.5 that would be helpful

i am also having trouble with the save system (i am new 2 NO$GBA), my problem is i hav the new version and am using it 2 play NDS ROMS and it wont create .SAV files for any of them when closed normally so i tryed save states (SNAPS) and when i try to load them the rom crashes, but otherwise it plays all of the roms with no problems at all.

what files need to be in the folder so tht the emulator will do this properly and wht do the emulation settings need to be set 2?

i see u hav it set to GBA BIOS, i hav 2 bios files but when i set it to tht it crashes, the files are named as follows:

biosnds7.rom
biosnds9.rom

other files in the folder are:

NO$GBA.INI
NO$GBA.INP

and the emulator .EXE itself
then there is the BATTERY folder, SLOT, SNAP, and DOTCODES.

are there any other files i need?

also i was setting it to FLASH 512KBytes

you have to encryp your rom file for the bios to work in the firmware if not just set it to "star directly" cause it will crash, you dont need any more files just be sure you have the bios files and the firmware.bin

the save type doesnt have to be always 521kbytes because different games has different savetypes, the site that i post has informaton about games save type

you have to dump it on your own nintendo ds cause its illegal to distribute if you dnt have just set it to "start directly"
oh and just to imform you that if you play a game with the different save type your save file could be overwritten so be careful when playing different games

what do mean mean lgc-****.zip?

i found the detailed info for digimon world ds and there was a download link for a file named lgc-dmwd, the zip was called the same, i was wondering what this file is for?

so there is no way to get a firmware.bin unless i hav a DS is tht wht ur saying?

i will correct myself the files inside the .zip are:

file_id.diz
lgc-dmwd.nfo

do i need these?

thanx for your help man, uhm u said before i need to encrypt the rom how do i go about doin this? and does it matter if the rom is inside a .zip or not?

ok so tht site tht you posted for me to look at said the save type for the game was EEPROM 512KBytes and the only option i have for 512 is the FLASH option and with it set to tht it is not creating a .SAV file when i close the emulator

Serious question

Zoids Legacy - as example

OK so i have had the roblem in that the gba.rom file would work in No$gba 1.9 but not in 2.5. This wouldn't be to ba except for that my save file (zoids) is in 2.5 and of course 1.9 won't be able to read it.
I don't want to start a new game and the gba.rom file wouldn't work in 2.5 so i replaced the No4gba.ini file with the version 1.9 one and now t works.

So i have the two windows up (linked) as to allow multiplayer and i have done some testing to find out that

1) when you save on the first window (player 1) it saves as .sav NOTE: this is the first save of the game (no previous saves)

2) when you save on the second window (player 2) it save as .SV2 (2nd save file)

3) you can load the first save file only with the first window (player 1) and the second save file only with the 2nd window (player 2)

^^^^^^^^^^all helpful research^^^^^^^^^^^^

So what that means is if i want to competivly battle with someone over the emulator i would have to play two games (anoying as heck and is the problem in the first place)
BUT i believe there is a solution i just don't know how to do it

So here what i wanna know: I have a zoids legacy save file ( zoids.sav ) and i want to get all the data e.g. the completed game and overwright the zoids.SV2 data with it.

I dont know how to do this but i was tinking that if someone could tell me a converter (to download) or something so that i could
*copy the save file ( zoids.sav ) paste somewhere and then convert it to zoids.SV2 and then put it back into the battery file

This would mean that window 1 (player 1) would have the original save data and window 2 (player 2) would have a copy of it which means i would have got player 2 to have the game finished without having to finish every single game all ver again.

Here is a explination of my Emulator and contents if it helps:

No$gba-w_2.5c (is a folder in the desktop)

No$gba.inp (in folder)
No$gba.ini (in folder)
gba.rom (in folder)(works with ver 1.9 but not 2.5 except for mod i made)
No$gba.exe (in foler)(version 2.5)

NOTE: there is nothing mportant in SNAP , SLOT , DOTCODES folder

In Battery Folder -=-=-=-

Zoids.sav
Zoids.SV2

basically i want the Zoids.SV2 file to be the same as the Zoids.sav file just still have its Zoids.SV2 name so that the 2nd window (player 2) on the emulator picks up that save file (.SV2)

Conclusion: lol gues this sounds dumb but i hoped this helped with any research or whatever and that if you have been bothered to read this and aready new everthing i hope that you don't want to punch my out my brain and poke it with a stick.

WOW i just thought (no thats not the wow) is there an option in the emulator to choose a save type? (i doubt it)
