That pic is not much different from the one that Cyber34 posted. If you have a problem with the drop down box being grayed out, you will find the answer a bit further down on page 2.

I do posess sound naturally, just can't choose that particular option in Audacity from the drop down menu. I suppose I should be looking for a microphone then one of these days. Since I don't use it on the PC usually, hopefuly I won't choose that one mic that won't be compatible.

Well...you could always just convert your save and do whatever that part is on your DS and then convert it back again.

The DS is currently out of action, due to a very hyperactive nephew and a glass whose aquatic contents were poured over the poor, unshielded device, so I must get my attorney Objection goodness over the computer.

well... you dont need a microphone for it to work... if your sound card supports it just turn on "stero mixer" in the recording section (Thats where its on on mine) it basically emulates a mic.. and if you have to download an mp3 or wav of something blowing such as wind or such and have it playing at the same time your needing that mic feature... it works for me =p

hey guys.. i just found this site.. great emulator,
I rly appreciate ppl like these making emulator like this as I really love Gyakuten Saiban, but Im too broke to buy DS and the game just for that game(i dun have anythin i wanna play besides that game) anyways I'm stuck at where some of you might have been stuck at, the blowing screen part. Im on vista and I downloaded audacity, I read this whole thread as well as FAQ in their audacity wiki page. I have realtek97 and Soundblaster Audigy both enabled, should I disable one of them or what? anyways my pull down bar is greyed out, and in "Preference" menu, no matter what I pick it doesn't seem to work. sometime record button works without error, but seems to record nothing(even with mp3 playing in the back) I use a headphone with mic on it, headphone has 2 cable, green for output and pink cable for input, I think my pink cable might be in wrong spot? do I have to move around my pink(mic) cable depending on where I pick the input from?? ie: if I pick soundblaster input, I leave the cable in the soundcard, and if I switch to on-board sound input, should I pull them out and stick them up to motherboard's? sry might be confusing question..... i cant wait to play apollo! thx in advance guys. Okay.. I figured out. I just had the mic in the wrong place, but even with max volume it seems to read my voice(or breath) so low, so I had to physically slap the hell out of my tip of mic to get the powder off for fingerprints..haha yay now i can spend all nite playin appolo

ok..
here's my issue, I have a mic and it works perfectly and everything, and in phoenix wright the first one it ONLY worked on the blowing the dust part, but on every other game i tried, it doesn't work at all. I have my mic sound completely maxed out in the settings, but still, i think i only got the voice to register one time on a "Hold It" but it was some sort of a fluke and i don't even remember how, I've tried and tried, but nothing works. I need some serious step by step advice cause i'm a dumbass when it comes to vague help. Please help.

IMPORTANT INFO FOR VISTA USERS:
i've recently gotten to the point where i have to blow for finger prints on phoenix write: ace attorney and, like many, i had problems with this. i couldn't use any method that was described in this thread. audacity, free-hi1 recorder, nothing......at first. then when i was messing with the settings in the sound window from the control panel, i accidentally right clicked and found my answer at last. for those having the greyed out box trouble with audacity or free-hq trouble, try this: 1. go to start->control panel->sound 2. either right-click in your playback or recording tab (preferably both) and select "show disabled devices". 3. if, like me, something called "WaveOut Mix" shows up, enable it and set it to be default. (whatever shows up could be named something different, but probably be the same thing.) 4. (not sure if this step is needed but...): open up something like free-hq and open no$gba. get to where you have to blow in any game and make sure the "WaveOut Mix" audio level is maxed. this can be done in its properties tab. start recording and play the game. note: i don't believe the 4 step is necessary as i think whatever is enabled in the recording tab will automatically make it so that all sound being played behaves as if its being played thru the mic. if not, do the free-hg thing i mentioned. i'm not sure if this will work in windows XP as i only have vista to test it on. hope it helps anyone needing it. |

I've been reading all the posts up to this point, and I've found an even easier way of getting Mic-Action to work in No$GBA for simple "Blowing" that does not require the download or installation of any additional software.
![]() Get to your Windows Control Panel (Click Start, Settings, Control Panel...) and open the "Sound Cards and Audio Devices" icon. This will get the properties menu for your default sound card. The menu will look different based on what brand/model of sound card you have. Mine looks like this: ![]() Click the "Advanced Tab", it's circled in Red in the picture. You'll get a "Volume Control" menu that looks like this: ![]() (Incidentaly, you could also reach this menu by double-clicking the Speaker Icon in the Task Tray at the lower-right corner of your desktop. I'm trying to keep this guide idiot-proof, meh.) From here, click "Options", then "Properties". Options is circled in Red. You'll get something like this: ![]() Next, make sure "Line-In" is checked and "Recording" is selected. Both are circled in Red in the above pic. Click "Okay". Lastly, check the box by "Select" below "Line-In", then max out the Volume for that selection. Circled in Red again. ![]() Apply your changes, then start up the No$GBA. Whenever you get to any part of a game that requires you to "Blow", the game will detect it's own sound as audio input, creating a constant "Blowing Wind". To stop the wind, just mute your speakers. I'm not sure how well this will work for games that require gentle blows, but it got me past the Finger Print parts in Apollo Justice. Also, make sure you change the settings back if you intend to make any records. Hope that helps somebody. ^_^
