how do i play a ds game with this?

I downloaded the newest version of No$GBA and i tryed to play nintendogs but i keep getting the pop up saying the rom image has crashed. how do you play ds roms with this? is there something that has to be done to the ds roms or something? please help i've yet to play a singe ds rom.

The no$gba emulator is more of an emulator that requires some skill to 'setup' to play nds roms. And while it is a standard practice to not tell new people how to set it up, myself included when i started using this emulator, the information on how to do it is already within this set of forums. You just have to search out the information itself.

Still, if you have problems after finding out the information and no$gba still isn't running, then people will help with specific problems.

You need to have the NDS bios files BIOS7.ROM and BIOS9.ROM and DS_FIRMWARE.BIN in the same folder as the No$Gba executable to make NDS games to work in No$Gba. You have to rename DS_FIRMWARE to just FIRMWARE.BIN. Don't ask where to get them, dump them from your own DS yourself.

Make sure that you get eNDryptS Advanced from this site. You especially might have to use this if the game crashes the emulator:

Put your rom in same folder as the eNDryptS Advanced (use a copy of your original rom so you won't mess it up). Open up eNDryptS Advanced and press 1. Close eNDryptS Advanced on open up No$Gba and select your game and it will probably give you a message saying that it can't read the data or something similar. Go to Options and then Emulation Setup. In Emulation Setup, go to NDS Cartridge Backup Media near the bottom left and try a setting. After you do that, go to File>Reset Cartridge. In the future with different DS roms, most likely you have to do all of the things that I already said to get them to work. If the game works, good, then you don't have to do anything else. If not, try another save type and do the same thing until it works. You might have to fool with the different NDS Cartridge Backup Media types and change it different one and reset the game and do it again until you find a setting that makes the game work.

Is there a sticky explaining how to get games to work in this emulator yet? I noticed that a lot of people are having this problem and it would be good to have a sticky explaining all of that stuff.

What the hell are you talking about? I see this question being asked all of the time. I even asked it myself in the past. There is no point in answering the same question over and over. That's what FAQs and stickys are made for. It would be very useful to have a sticky on this matter since it's neccessary to know that info to run NDS roms. Your response is one of the dumbest responses that I have ever recieved on this forum. Yeah, give people an emulator and don't tell people how the hell to use it properly. That's very helpful. What is the point in having skills to find out yourself? What does that prove? Does it prove their awesome 1337 emulator skillz? It would benefit people to at least have a sticky telling people what is needed to run the emulator since there is no real documentation with the emulator on how to run NDS roms. Y'all are just jerking this guys chain. And no, the author cannot build all of the files into his emulator since they are owned by Nintendo, thus making it illegal to distribute with the emulator unless the author emulated the bios and firmware himself without using any of the code by Nintendo. And that could very difficult.

Anyways if you have enough power to change my status don't you then have enough to make your own sticky? If not then it would it not have been something you should have PM'd to one of the other Forum mods/admins?

Im not trying to be cheeky it just does not make sense to me that someone who has enough power to change status of posters can't then create their own sticky. I would think the two powers are on just about equal standing.

I can't change your status or make stickies. I am just a regular member. Is it the stars that fooled you? You're still cool though, but seriously, all I'm saying is just tell the man what he needs to know so he can be on his way and stop beating around the bush. Possibly there's no sticky yet because the No$Gba sub-forum is relatively new here and because no one has taken the time to make a sticky yet. It's is a good idea though and I might PM someone about it or make one myself. It's like giving someone a car and telling them to drive it without the proper instruction. It's dumb to tell someone to use their "skills" to find out themselves. There shouldn't be any "skills" involved to make an emulator work. The goal is to get it working with a game, not to waste time trying to figure out how to make it work.

As far as I can see, it'd be pretty useless. Just look at the other topics here. That question has been asked numerous times. Anyone who bothers to even check one or two of those would find out the same answer.

Stickied or not, newbies are going to just ignore other topics and ask the same question over and over again. Nonetheless, I suppose it could stickied, at least then we could simply tell whoever asks that to go read it.

I wouldn't know as I never was ignored, I never made a post anywhere asking for help aside from one silly mistake which I made after like a week or two of using the emu and updating to the latest version (I had accidentaly not quite transferred all the neccessary files into the new folder), which I sorted myself anyways and then one or two specific game settings which I will galdly help out with if I play the game and know of better settings...which at this stage is unlikely unfortunately as I only have like 6 games and probably won't be getting anymore anytime soon.

Besides usually when use that smily I am just being cheeky, that does not mean that I think that that is the correct attitude to adopt or that I will adopt it myself.
