Blowing on screen?

I'm playing some Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, and I'm on the very last case of the game. I'm doing my detective work and all, running around all willy nilly. So I get to a part where I have to use aluminum dust to gather fingerprints and it tells me to blow on the screen. I laughed my ass off. But then I realized that I can't finish the game until I can do this. Any help?

Ahh I thought this might be the case, but my mic was not too effective. Any workarounds to mention? Also, lol @ Windman offering advice to a "blowing on screen" thread.

Go to Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices -> Audio tab. There, you can find an option to set the recording volume for your mic.
There has been a long thread ages ago about software workarounds, but the link in Schumi's FAQ doesn't work anymore.

another way is to set your recorder to internal recorder. This will allow you to blow, without blowing in the mic but rather with the sound output of the game itself.

PS sound must be turned on.

Well, the volume option is a durr. Of course I adjusted my volume. And as for the internal sound, vista does not support said feature.

Do the grains move at all? I remember on my first try, I didn't catch the whole print and blew until I'd blow off the part that was actually supposed to stay. Note also that the first print you'll find will be by a glove, therefor unrecognizable. Just a dark oval blot, as it were.

You can also try it this way if blowing in the mic does not work. I am a staff member at a rom site, and there they have a help thread for no$gba, this is said about using the mic without using a real microphone:

Quote:
Q: How can you play a game without a MIC?
A: Please read this post from ngemu about Audacity.

Quote:
Okay slightly less confusing explanation of what I did. You don't need a microphone to make this work. I have this free open source audio recording program called Audacity. In it you can select which source to record from in that drop down box from the top (as seen in the picture). It defaults to microphone, selecting Stereo/Mono mix makes it record from what's playing in your speakers. However instead of just just doing that, it seems to change what's being played directly into mic input in windows itself. Meaning if you leave it on Stereo/Mono Mix and close the program, put on some music and open anything else that records from the mic (teamspeak, windows sound recorder, skype) and you will notice it to will instead of grabbing mic input, grab what's being played. So if you don't have a mic, you can just leave it on Stereo Mix and any sound/music being played No$gba should think is mic input (as I said the music in Phoenix Wright 1 was good enough to blow away the fingerprint dust). Of course since mic input in No$gba only works if sound is on, you can't stop it from accepting the music as input at will (well you could probably just turn sound off for a second then turn it back on, I've no game that requires that to try it out on). This of course probably will make your mic useless, however simply setting the drop-down box in Audacity back to Microphone should make it work again in Windows. Hopefully that helps. Apparently Hiei-YYH and sigmax got this to work so hopefully it'll work for others.

Super Simple explanation minus the reasoning or observations above. Get Audacity, select stereo mix in the drop down box as pictured. Close the program. No$gba will now pick up sound being played as mic input, the emulator's music will have some effect, play something in an audio player for more noise.

well, I'm using vista and it works. Well, I guess that your Pc does not have an internal speaker, well, than I guess you have to use a mic.

Pokemon does not require the use of a microphone so nothing would change.

It will not suddenly stop because you are doing something to a game that does not need to be done.

No, like using the mic when the mic is not required.
