Perhaps it has to do with the config file? I took a peek at it, and I assuming that the settings for the keyboard would be saved there. I guess I could just delete it and put in a new one, right?

if you know and can understand the data sure...but just haphazardly changing things is going to accomplish very little other than breaking things even more.
