Lightbulb For first time No$gba users

No$gba supports following

I Gba gamesalmost every game there is<but i recommend use of Visual boy advance just because it has more functions like volume, resize, etc and an easy interface>

II Nds games
Nearly all games are supported with minor bugs. Check whether your game works here (Compatibility thread). In game(not via emulator, through the game) save working for all games i know of.<Trouble here is mostly due corrupt game or improper use of no$gba>

In game save can be done after opening a game and menu->save->yes(already a save type->yes)
How to open a game.... simply drag and drop it on no$gba or browse the file yourself.

Save state working however load state not working, it crashes the emulator.
<Save state indicates File(menu of emulator)->load and write snapshot(F7 and F8) useless for nds games. But these work for gba.>

Auto Gba cartridge backup media and nds cartridge backup media<i.e Inexperienced people need not play with this option... Many games have different backup media, so one was required to know what it was for his/her game----now not required>

Volume adjust not available but simple solution-adjust volume of your computer<no u cannot enjoy music from pc while u play no$gba....use your ipod or cell and headphones >

Cheats work with F2 or via emulator menus. To get cheats, please utilize the sources of the internet.

Wifi at present not working.(if you dont know whats wifi... then find out what it is atleast and realise that it is not supported at the moment)

Closing the "lid" of DS Games like Zelda Phantom Hourglass requires closing of lid of ds for going on in the game.... possible by minimize the emulator(you know the _ button on the top right, next to X) and restore(maximize it) to open the lid.

Bugs Yikes! Your game isnt working properly even though you are sure it is not corrupt. Not to panic, the emulator is being worked on and it is improving. Try to work around a minor bug, a major bug (your game cannot proceed) is inevitable and you have to wait (i dont know how long) till the new version is out(beware your bug may not be fixed in this one! sorry). No$gba Bug thread keeps track of most bugs, so check it.

Version 2.6 is out for free No$gba download(no$gba but some$nds)<2.6a was available till the donations stopped for unknown reasons>
donation of 2.5$ is all u need(ed) for a world class emulator.

Replies accepted
->If further doubts exist
->If u want me to add something to this.
Till then happy emulation

Rules
1. Talking about downloading roms is not allowed.
2. We don't tell location of Roms, bios or firmware. For those you must search the net and no need to share your work with us!
3. And suggestions need not be put up here for we wont implement them... You know the man in charge for that so go to no$gba site and request him!

Just ask your doubt and pray it is answered by me or other Staff members!

Isn't most things in here covered by the FAQ? And with a more clear english too... If you want to add stuff there, you should just comment there and if Dualscreenman agrees, he may edit his post.

I know the faq is available<with better english> but it hasnt been updated since jan 23 2008... (eg- auto detect save type has not been mentioned)

I just took the basic questions coming up all the time for now and wrote a thread. Thats all this thread is not a faq and need not even be compared with the faq<with better english>, its just something first time users must look at after the faq<with better english>.

<post edited - slight details and i hope now it contains "Better English" >

Tell you what, if you clean it up a bit and make it nicer to read, I might sticky this so that it is a supplement to the FAQ.

I still think this should be just added to Dualscreenman's post, and keep it all in one thread. Even if he didn't see your suggestions, a moderator could edit the post by himself, like mudlord (only now I saw he's a mod for this section).

Anyway, here's my thoughts:

Many may disagree, saying no$gba is better, and have you tested "almost every game"?

Also not true, some "minor bugs" prevent people from advancing the game.

Never used cheats, but lots of people have many different problems, you might want to elaborate this part, or ask for help (specially from those who have been helping newbs).

"Donations stopped" may lead to people thinking Martin himself halted the donations. Just a suggestion, though, that you should say there have been some problems with donations, and nothing can be done at the moment.

I wonder if members with a higher status quo agrees for a person to mod the FAQs around here.

I suggest that you should post a link to the stickied "No$gba FAQ thread".

That's all.

Absolutely agreed, i made this thread to answer questions, never hoping it to be stickied. It can be added to the main FAQ thread(i found it was not updated for a long time so i made a new thread thats all)

Gba emulation is not complete is what i meant by that... he is working on both as seen in all releses till now. No$gba is better by opinion and perhaps for running few(or many) games. I said i recommend Visual BoyAdvance since it had more functions like turbo button(space bar) and volume adjust. I can recommend stuff in a forum, freedom of recommendation!

Games are supported till the bug and they would work beyond the bug as well if the bug did not exist.the bug simply acts like a wall. the bug prevents a game from working becomes a major bug...However this thread is not a compatibility thread or a bugs thread so i did not mention them(i.e what bugs are and are they major or minor?).

Before i wrote rules i wrote i accept any post for additions(before i wrote happy emulation) I am asking for experience in cheats for i dont use them nor do i have many ds games. If you have experience i'd be glad if you pm me or put a post here.

Donations have stopped due to unknown reasons... if some one were to give the exact reason, I WOULD ADD IT... The message received is "this person is unable to receive donations" I didnt know what to make of it and hence i wrote donations have stopped.

No offense Ma chao, just justifying myself in what i wrote.

None taken. Actually, I don't see how I could be offended with your last post.

Remember, this is for first-time users. Making they think almost every game is supported with minor bugs can only lead to annoying questions like "why doesn't this game work?" without even seeing the compatibilities thread. With that being said, you could put a link to it. Something like "check the compatibilities thread to see which NDS games are supported".

Like I said, I never tried using cheats, so I can't help you with that. Just mentioned that because most problems seem to be with using cheats rather than finding the cheats option.

OK, my problem is that I've got 2 NDS ROMs, can I boot 2 seperate ROMs (they're supposed to be compatible with each other in real NDS for trading/battling etc. ) in NO$GBA simultaneously and emulate a wireless connection between them? And how?

Um, OK... but the NO$GBA changelog says that v2.4b onwards "basic DS Wi-Fi emulation" is added... What's the meaning/purpose of that emulation then?

You just need to know that wifi is still being worked on. Go read the note with the (*) on the no$gba's homepage.
