No$gba Skinning with NOZ V2.30

might be useful for those who want to have skinning support for no$gba.
here's the direct quote from setya5785's blog entry
(due to obvious reason concerning forum rules, i didn't include site url or other forum that he link in his post)

Quote:
earlier today, when i was browsing the forum for emu faq, i found something cool for no$gba. it's a zooming addon called NOZ. just like the other zooming addon for no$gba such as NDS2XGL or myZoom, it offer extra display option for no$gba. but that's not the feature i meant when i said 'cool'. this lovely app also have another feature, skinning, yup skinning ^_^
something that we all have waited for (well, maybe not all, but a little exagerating doesn't hurt). if skin mode is active, some of the feature like zoom scale, filter aren't working, not really matter though. since 1x display already give you a clear and sharp image quality.
there's one major downside though, it's chinese :| so for those who lucky enough to install asian language support for OS might be able to read the menu (well assuming you know how to read it lol), and lot of you that don't, you'll only see gibberish character.

after i get my hand on the app, i've managed to translate the menu and change it into english. to make your life easier (including mine ^_^). so feel free to download this lovely app.

all credit goes to Omed (Tenken3) for creating of this lovely app

so spread the love using this translated version

or download the original chinese version at this forum (he link to a forum)
enjoy i put the file and skin on attachment

Nice man, I will download and test right away

Works great, thanks, but my PC specs is low for it, and normal No$GBA works better.

wow, this thing is nice in terms of what it can do and more so, its easier to use since its a executable file rather than some of set of steps to do unlike that other way of trying to skin the emulator, not knocking the other one in terms of what it did but it wasn't simple using it, so thanks for this emu that you found. i wish there was some way that this could be used with no$gba launcher since all my files are now zip since i converted all of them to it, now i will have to extract them again.

@darkbolo.. if you use skin mode, disable filtering and scale (not that it really active even though you choose it to be active).
well, probably just your pc spec.
it doesn't have to much performance penalty. it work like myZoom and NDS2XGL

and in skin mode, since no filtering applied, the penalty is minimum

@mr duck.. hope it will be zip support soon

I like how it uses proper scaling. The sprites don't look horribly streched out without filtering anymore.

If you can get in contact with the original creator then thell him to remove the snapshot options.....it will just make n00bs think that they can use them...

i don't know how to contact the real author (Omed), but i guess i could contact the translator to remove the snapshot option

and oh by the way, i've checked the "noz.ini" , it seem that display holder and size are define here, so if skin, it's possible to use larger display than native nds res (256*192)

@jvhellraiser
lol, you beat me.. i've planned for DS black skin earlier ^_^
it's nice, but i guess need extra retouhing especially on your DS proportion
it's better to resize (the black NDS) in proportion and adjust the noz.ini later to adjust NDS screen position, rather than transforming your nds black image to fit the original skin provided (thus break your original image proportion)
btw, its a nice skin

A little tip to all of you
If you want to use transparencies use the RGB color (255,0,255) [MAGENTA] as transparent color

Man this would be the bomb if only it had an option to force your mouse to stay within the bottom box when clicking like NDS2xGL2 does.

While its nice I could care less about the skinning feature. I liked NDS2xGL2 for scaling and the reason above. This one has scaling and the filters work.

In short I am having a hard time figuring out which one I want to use. This one or NDS2xGL2. Someone who knows Chinese put in a feature request for forcing the mouse to stay within the bottom box when clicking. None the less thank you for letting us know about this awesome tool.

If you use skin system, simply create a skin with greater video size (you have to change the few options in the ini file)
If you don't use the skin system, simply choose the desired multiplier in the Scale Mode option (for example 2:1 will double the size for the upper screen and leave the bottom screen to the original size)
