Dragon Quest 4 with English Patch

Hi All,

I have DQ 4 (japanese of course) and I have applied an English patch to it. When I start it up with no$GBA on my computer and I get an error with some settings, and with others I get some choppy sound and only a black screen. I searched the forums but found nothing about this. Does anyone know what settings I need to play this game?

Thanks!

i've tried, work nicely. though i didn't apply translation patch, instead, i use action replay code to 'activate' english language that's already built inside DQ 4.

you should ask that patch author instead, since, patching a game, mean changing rom data. at some point, there could be some system code (probably accidently, maybe) got change and can cause some problem

A little bit of googling led me to this:
Dragon Quest IV DS In English Via Action Replay | GEMAGA.COM

Haven't tried it yet so don't know if it works, but its kinda interesting that it also has french, german, italian, and spanish too.

Looks like the Action Replay code breaks some start sounds from those screens.

the english script it self is not 100%, only partial (seem than square enix decide to drop that script translation later on the game production, but lucky enough they didn't remove it)
