Our buddy TerrorShocked had a little conversation with caustik, author of CXBX.*Since*Martin started to work on the emulator, caustik is interested to know which game poeple would like to see emulated next on CXBX. He kindly asked if NGEmu would like to*put this poll on the frontpage.

 

Our poll was quite old so we had no problem changing it for him. Now I'm not the biggest X-Box fan but I gathered some of the better rated games on the platform for you to choose from. Here are your choices :

• Halo : Combat Evolved
• Fable
• Burnout
• Ninja Gaiden
• Grand Theft Auto : San Andreas
• SSX 3

Of course, if you have other games you feel should be emulated before these ones, you can always post the title in this comments thread.

I would really like to see Forza emulated as i have always wanted to play that with my PC wheel. I am really just happy to see that emulating the xbox is moving forward.

The Dead Or Alives would be very nifty to try on PC
Feature lots of nifty effects to emulate. Burnout could be equally technically nice to emulate.
Which of these will turn into cxbx's FFX

I suspect Halo will win the favour here though, despite FPS games b when coming from the gamepad world-ported console play

Yeah, I would really like to see the DOA titles.
After the Dreamcast, I didn't buy a new console. So I wasn't able to play the new DOAs. And I'm a huge fan of DOA2.

However, every game in CXBX would be nice.

Halo, Fable & GTA already have PC versions, so the excitement of seeing those games emulated isn't very grand. On the other hand, them X-Box exclusives like DOA3/X, Project Gotham, etc.. should be given higher priority. My opinion, tho.

DOA XBeach would be very interesting to be emulated. Well, halo already released in PC so I guess there's would be only a little fun expectation.

This isn't about what people would like to play, folks. Please keep it more serious than that.

Why should game A be tried being emulated rather than game B, C, D or E ?
Whats the difference (other than "its cool", "i love it" or similar arguments?)

People want emulators that play not only one game, but are compatible with more. FFX for PCXS2 was chosen on technical grounds, for instance.

I prioritise Conker : Live and Reloaded, Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee and Dino Crisis 3. Although the first one is playable on N64, the emulated remake would be great and the other two are XBox-only titles, so they definately are worth to be called.

Conker, DOA (all of them) and Oddworld Stragers Wrath - I already heave them for my xbox, but playing them on the PC, with high resolution, AA+AF - that is my dream!

Yup these Three games has been out on the PC for quite some time , doesn't make much sense prioritizing on these 3 games

Actually it makes sense. Xbox is basically a PC, and having crossplatform games that featured on similar architectures would allow for better understanding of the internals. Again, this is not mainly about what people would love to play.

I definately say NOT halo, fable, or GTA, as they are already on PC.

I DO say try and get an xbox exclusive running.

personally, I want mortal kombat, one of the james bond games, project gotham racing, or episode 3.

but really, just work on as many kernels as you can!

so how many kernels do you have so far? like 10 out of 400? and like 50 of them are probably worthless ones like music player and xbox live, right?

I voted Ninja Gaiden, and I second MadCat's voice for Oddworld Stranger's Wrath and Conker Live & Reloaded. Panzer Dragoon Orta would also be very nice to have.

The game I'd like to see emulated the most is probably DOA3.

That being said, I believe it would be more logical to invest some time in getting games that already do something to go a little further. (Panzer dragoon, Halo, Turok) Since Halo is also available on the PC, it could be a good reference in understandung the game and implementing what's missing on the emu to support it. The more gets fixed for one game, the more games we should see starting to show something.

I think what Hard core Rikki said is correct. Any game that helps the development of a complete Xbox emulator must have preference, be it "cool" or "crappy".

Damn, you weren't kidding when you say you're not an Xbox fan!

The best thing to do is to get games working with the XDK v4627 and once HLE for that XDK is done, it will make it easier to do others too (says caustik). So finishing the work done on DOAV as well as others like Unreal Championship, Splinter Cell, Myst III, Panzer Dragoon, should be a great milestone.

Although I agree with Hard core Rikki also, here's a small list of games I'd like to see, besides them all.

1. Halo 2 for numerous reasons:
- So that non-vista users can join the fun (Win2k users too).
- So those that have the Xbox version won't have to buy the crappy PC port.
- To boost Cxbx's popularity

3. Whacked!
4. Soldier of Fortune II
5. Namco Museum
6. Crazy Taxi III
7. Shenmue II
8. Metal Slug 3 because the Xbox version is the best.
9. Metal Gear Solid II
10. Fusion Frenzy
11. Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee
12. DOA (all)
13. Dead to Rights
