Chrono Cross Problem
I have VGS 1.3 and there is a problem while playing Chrono Cross. Whenver I press the square button no menu pops up. I can only hear the beeps when I move around with the D-pad. Is there any way to get this menu to show up? Thanks.

Yeah, I tried it with ePSXe and it ran fine except for one little problem. Whenever I engage an enemy for battle the battle screen takes FOREVER to load. Once in the battle its fine, the only hangup is the loading for it. Have you encountered this before and if so what did you do to correct it?

It will be a sad answer..... nope... you can't get the menu to pop up, the only thing you can do is to press square and try with each selection (you'll notice it when yo her}ar the sound)... and one more thing,... it IS possible to finish the game that way... look at me, I finished it without knownig even the order of the list... |

Hi, MrRoboto. Actually, it is possible to enable the "key-item menu", but you will lneed VGS 1.41 & a special patch. I have tried this and it DOES work. The trick is that the key item menu only appears in the PAL version of the game. So what you do (if you do not have the PAL version) is this : a) Get VGS 1.41 b) Go to "Aldo's Tools and get the patch included in "rbncc.zip" The zip includes some instructions on how to use it - it is very simple... c) Enjoy Chrono Cross...

actually, VGS 1.41 is acquired by buying 1.3, then updating to 1.4 and 1.41, respectively, with an upgrade patch found previously at Connectix.

Well you've got a very similar system to me, so here are my settings for petes OpenGL. My guess is you got full vram on but if using these settings is still slow then i dont know what it is. Or maybe a slow cd-rom if your not using an ISO. Resolution/Color: - 640x480 Fullscreen - Desktop changing [32 Bit] - Keep psx aspect ratio: off Textures: - R8G8A8A8 - Filtering: 6 - Caching: 2 Framerate: - FPS limitation: on - Frame skipping: off - FPS limit: Auto Compatibility: - Offscreen drawing: 3 - Framebuffer texture: 2 - Alpha multipass: on - Mask bit: on - Advanced blending: on Misc: - Scanlines: off - Line mode: off - Unfiltered FB: off - Dithering: off - Full vram: off - Game fixes: off [00000000]

no worries but i've got one more tip, if its the battle transition thats slow (you know the screen effect) then try setting framebuffer texture to 1. If its the actually loading that slow then you can always try making an ISO.

I tried that patch from Aldostools but it seems not working... Anyway I tried to guess where the items are on the menu (trial and error), stil manage to beat the game. I think CC is most enjoyable with VGS with no sound stopping or clitches...well except this one maybe. |
