Configuration questions.

I have had a search through this forum, and pulled up almost all of the FF9 topics around to find not much helped.

I have so far used 2 emu's to try get a decent working FF9 going but to no success so i decided to try my luck here.

Current setup is
AMD Athlon 3500+
Nvidia 6150LE
3gb's ram
100gb's of hd space left

I tried my luck with ePSXe, got the best results out of it when it comes to graphics at least. I went through most of the gpu plugins trying to get smoothness and consistency for the game. No matter what i try, it always gets laggy around the start of battles (swirly effect) and on world map. I know the world map is gonna be laggy, no matter what i do - but from what i read on other peoples topics, im sure it shouldn't of been as laggy as i had it.

I have tried OpenGL 1.78 (pete), OpenGL2 2.8, P.E.Op.S, D3D, DX6 D3D. All with various settings. Help would be greatly appreciated

I was also wondering if i might get better performance out of the GeForce FX Go5200, 512mb ram, 1.4gb swap, 1.5ghz cpu.

Firstly, you wouldnt get better performance out of that other comp, really Second, I would say that the lag you get could be the emu just loading the game, are you using an ISO or the original disc?

Oh and welcome to the forum

EDIT: Oh again, this should have gone in the epsxe section

thanks.

Im using ISO's. If it is just loading of the game, what would be the best possible configuration even if it does not eliminate any of the pre-battle or world map lag?

This is what i have at the moment

Hmm, hang on, let me go and look at how I've got mine setup

This is how I run epsxe, the only diff in our comps is I have 1Gb of RAM and 2 OC'd 6800'GS's, but I would think your comp would cope, if not you could just do a bit of oc'ing Mind you this is if you want good graphics, for yours, I would say reduce the texture filtering if you want better fps generally.
