Couldn't manage SSSPSX to run a game :(

Hi folks,

my be it is because I'm to stupid for that, but I couldn't manage to run FF8 & FF9 with SSSPSX. The only thing I get will be a black screen even after patching the image (patching only testet with FF8 for now!). Any Ideas?

Before anyone will say that: I already got the games running on pSXemulator and ePSXe. I only whant to test the SSSPSX to see what the emulator can do.

Well i assume you are using the PAL Versions of FF8/9, i only have Final Fantasy 8 PAL with a patch applied and it doesn't work either with ssspsx. FF8/9 NTSC work like a charm though.

That's sad. Well then, I think I have to wait until the PAL version becomes working with SSSPSX or simply use an other emulator. Thanx a lot.

BTW, what's the difference between SSSPSX and eSXPe 1.5.2?

SSSPSX is slightly faster and has less issues with certain games like mgs... other than that it supports the rumble feature for my xbox 360 gamepad.

Well then, for now I have no problems with the game speed playing it in eSPXe. But one big mistery will be left: I have a Trustmuster Firestorm Dual Power 3 Gamepad. Playing FF9 using the emulator, I can feel the vibration. But in FF8, there is no rumbling. Don't now why. Tried both, the internal AND the SSS PSX Pad Plugin.

turn 'off screen drawing' to 4 on the plugin (assuming u are using petes plugin)

When you enter game, turn on the analogue by pressing the button that you mapped to be the analogue button.

When in game press start and press left/right to turn on vibration.

Well, I'm using petes OpenGL 2.8 Plugin. So I couldn't set 'off screen drawing' to 4. But I wonder what this have to do with the joypad rumble?

However, it still won't work although I enabled it in the game.

xxxHolic was referring to the fact that you have to enable the Analog Gamepad with Epsxe in order to have Rumble, i think you can do this by pressing F6. Though there's still a chance you Gamepad will not produce any Rumbling in Epsxe. It was one of the main Reasons why i switched from it to SSSPSX. If you're desperate to play it with Rumble though you can simply use pSX.

Its kind amazing. Couldn't manage to let my controler rumble in FF VIII. Using FF IX or Legend of Mana (last on in pSX) works fine. But none of the emulators manage it to let FF VIII rumble my pad. Maybe I should open a new thread, becaus it's realy going off topic now.

Well it's your own thread so i guess there's no need to do so. You mentioned that the rumble works with FF9 and LoM, i wonder do you use the exact same emu/plugin combo for those??

Well them, I can continue.

It's strange:

pSX emulator: Legend of Mana - rumbling, FF IX - rumbling, Chrono Cross - rumbling (well, softly but it works), FF VIII - no rumbling (tried both, the SCPH-1150: Analog + Rumble and the SCPH-1200 DualShock controler).

In ePSXe (1.5.2 & 1.6.0): Chrono Cross - rumbling (also very softly. Couldn't test in 1.6.0 because game seems to not work - hangs up), FF IX - rumbling, FF VIII & Legend of Mana - no rumbling (using always the same configuration. Only the GFX settings of FF9 could be a little bit different, but shouldn't matter). I realy won't understand why.

Do you have a ppf patch applied to the game? It could be due to it.

Chrono Cross? Well, it starts up on 1.6.0 and locks before entering the name of Crono. Or what do you mean? Do I have to patch a game to activate rumble support? I couldn't belive that.
