Yes. I just changed it to non-read only, and it still doesn't work. When I press F1 to save and F3 to reload, it should take me right back to my last save state, right? Well instead of this, still, NOTHING happens.

I think the folder should be called 'sstates' by default for epsxe 1.6 to enable the save state feature. is your save state folder called 'sstates'? if not change it to that and it should work.

ok try this: instead of pressing F1 to save and F3 to load. do it manually: Play the game, click esc, go to the run, save state- slot 1 and do the same to load it but choose load save state- slot 1 * note enable logging by going on run tab, enable logging. You should see a 'dos' type screen appear and when you do a sava state it should say that you've done one.

Is epsxe on your harddisk? What are your computer specs.

1)Try another game and see if the save state function works. 2) Make sure the sstates folder is in the root epsxe folder not in another folder. 3) See if your game saves on the memory card instead of savestate feature.

2) what I meant was that could you save on a memcard, not if your save state went to mecard. you say that it saves so its all good bar the save state thing.....
