epsxe screen stays black at load up

When I start Epsxe152 it starts to load and then the screen just stays black. When I run epsxe152/160 and older verisons the same thing happens. I tryed different bios and plugins but same thing happens. I even reformated my harddrive thinking I got a virus or something. I used it about 1 month ago and it worked fine, but I reinstalled winxp and it stopped working.

thank you for taking your time to read this

First of all, post in the correct section. There is a specific section for ePSXe.

If you had, you would've seen this thread with its helpful advice.

Quote:
All I get is a black screen.
  • look at the console (the DOS window). are there any errors? what are the errors? based on that, make adjustments to the plugins you use (i.e. if it has a CD reading error, try a different plugin, different drive, or make an ISO)
  • If you have a copy protected PAL game, you might need to use a PPF patch. Check NGEmu's PPF page for our downloadable database of PPF patches. Alternatively, create an ISO image with subchannel data.
  • does anything show up when you run the BIOS? (File-->Run BIOS in ePSXe). if so, then you know it's a problem with the game not the emulator in general.
  • does the game work on a real PSX? if not, then that's your problem; your game just doesn't work.

sorry for posting in the wrong section.

I dont get any errors, and the bios runs ok but can't seem to dynasty warriors 5 empire to work. I tryed romance of the three kingdoms x and virtua fighter 4, which runs fine on my ps2 but can't seem to get it to work on the epsxe152

You are trying to play PS2 games on a playstation1 emulator. It's like trying PS2 games on a PS1 console. All you'll get will be also a black screen or an error message telling you you inserted the wrong CD.

What you need if you want to emulate PS2 games on a PC is PCSX2. Then The PCSX2 section is opened to you if you got issues with this emulator. And don't forget to read the stickies in, in order to see if there isn't already answers to your problems related overthere and, if not, to make some search....
