Mac drive won't accept PSX games

Hey guys,

I have a Macbook Pro with the slot-loading Superdrive and it won't accept PSX games. When I put in the game, it spins for a while then ejects. The drive does accept PS2 games and lists them as DVD disks..

These are REAL games I'm using here, not copies or images or anything like that.

Is this a common problem? Is there any way to tweak the drive settings?

It might be the case of the PlayStation CD-ROMs having the standard ISO9550 file format, and not a Mac-specific format. I have one PC/Mac game demo CD with both formats, such as Windows can only read the one part and not the Mac area.

haha, Macbook got pwned.

Call Apple and ask them what the deal is. Demand your money back. Or a free iPod.

Hey guys,

Still having some issues with the drive.

You know what's crazy though? Sometimes the drive accepts the PSX cds...other times it doesn't! Actually, most of the time they don't work. Basically on any given boot up, there seems to be a 50/50 chance of it accepting a PSX disc. Maybe I should pick up an external drive dedicated to reading discs that won't load through the notebook's drive?

I've you have another computer and a network connection you might be able to make an ISO, send it to your Mac and run the game(s) that way.

Unfortunately, you won't be able to play games off that drive, you'd only be able to make ISOs with it. So if you want to do that, it would suit you.

If I were you, though, I'd just do what Heihachi_73 said.
