cant get iso of game to finish

i just bought a new (still factory sealed) copy of alundra 2, as i couldnt get any iso-making programs to succesfully make an image of the disk. it kept stopping a specific completion point and i decided that it was probably due to wear on the disk, but my new copy (keep in mind its literally in mint condition) is stopping at the same exact point in every iso program i try, so now im assuming there is some other factor in this problem im having.

are some games just designed with protection software or something that prevent them from having data copied off it? i tried another experiment to see if it was my cd drives fault not the disk but i was able to produce perfect images of several other games with no problems. am i just stuck with needing the cd on hand to play the game or is there some kind of work-around that can get it to finish the process?

The iso-makers won't even skip over the problems if you tell it to skip errors?

yeah, the most reliable one i use, isobuster, wont even do it. ive tried all 4 error options and it keeps saying it cant read the sector. i thought that was a problem usually associated with damaged disks but this one is brand new so i dont see how thats possible, and it cant be my drive either as it reads other games and cds of the same type just fine. this ones got me stumped. thats why im wondering if some game developers intentionally make their cds protected from the whole emulation thing with security software or something, and if alundra 2 is one of those cases because i find it odd that both my old and my new cd stop at the same exact percentage point of completion on every iso program i try.

im talking in the illegal sense or something here so dont take this the wrong way, but just out of curiosity now, if you or anyone else reading this own alundra 2, could you try making an iso of your copy on your pc and see if it does the same thing to you? if it does work for you, i guess i could simply return my new copy and find another seller of the game and try my luck with that but i want to know first if someone can reproduce this so i know im not wasting my time trying to test a 3rd copy of it.

Have you tried making an image with Alcohol 52% Free Edition, Free Trial of Blindwrite, or Grab the program "ISO Producer" off of Aldo's Tools website?

I found when everything else failed, that using ISO Producer solved my problem.

For example when I was making an image of my Silent Hill 1 game, other programs I used to make the image would make the game freeze in certain areas Room's, However using Iso Producer allowed me to play it without a hitch.

I know thats obviously not your problem though, I was just using it as an example

well, i dont think i can use alcohol anymore because my trial period expired a while back and it wont let me re-install it. iso producer (although i might go back and try it again because i remember never told it to skip the error and retry analizing the problem sector, i closed out of it once it got to that point again) and blindwrite were some of the programs i expirmented with along with clonecd and a few others.

ive got at least 29GB of playstation isos on my laptop here, id say about 16 or 17 disks worth, all of them ive played through and i never encountered any freezing or glitches during gameplay that were related to a bad iso. the only exceptions were glitches or problems due to the plugins i was using for the video or audio settings of the emulator rather than the image file of the game.

so ive never had any faulty isos that i made from my ps1 disks, and some of my disks are not very good in condition yet i have yet to see errors while playing them and making the iso of them was no problem. this is the first time ive encountered a game that stops at the same point no matter what program i use, its really strange. and like i said, the most confusing part for me is that neither copy of my disks finish and one of them is brand new so i have to rule out the damaged disk factor also because they both seem to play fine when running them though the regular cd play rather than having epsxe run an image.

Actually the Free Edition of Alcohol 52%, you don't need to pay for and is completely free.

The only thing it lacks is CD burning capabilities as opposed to Alcohol 120%, and it supports only up to 6 virtual drives, however you can make images of your CD's with it

Have you tried googling the game to see if it contains Copy Protection, and to see if and how anyone else has made a successful backup?

I guessing since the game is new that you bought, it doesn't contain any scratches on it, as you mentioned above.
