I would assume this question has been asked before, but wasn't exactly sure how to search for it. Anyway... If one were to image burn a PSX ISO on to a CD (like with Nero or CDRWIN)...would it at all become playable on the PS console? I say this cuz I have a copy of the beta version of Resident Evil 2 and wanted to see if was able to try it on my PS2...not exactly sure if that's still illegal, since it's an unfinished and unreleased version of the game freely distributed on the internet without any disclaimers that I've seen.

if you somehow legally obtained this beta version (maybe you work for capcom), then it would be legal, but it wouldn't work without a mod chip. however, there is a 99% chance it's illegal. check out a PSX emulator, it will play anything (CDs, images, whatever). of course, you will receive no support for this game, not just because it's illegal/piracy, but also because it's a beta/web downloaded ISO. both of those things can have inherent problems in themselves. upon rereading your post, i noticed you said freely distributed. if you mean around warez sites, that doesnt mean freely distributed. if you mean that Capcom somehow is giving this away, then that's a different story.
