No more PSX memory cards?!?
Wow, PSX is practically dead. I just called about 15 local game stores here in Utah, including about 10 GameStops, and it is impossible to find a PSX memory card locally here. I was stunned. I ended up having to order a 3rd party memory card online for $10 including shipping. I never thought I would see the day when I couldn't buy a PSX memory card locally...

well, i guess you have to resort to ebay then. it's a sad situation, it had to happen someday. i remember when all the NES, then SNES games went out of the local shops. what a bummer.

I remember the days where you could walk into Electronics Boutique (before they ditched that name and just used Game) and you could get like 10 third-party memory cards for £5. I used to have a crapload of them, now I can't find any. I've started to notice that second hand stores are running out of PSX games as well. Not because I'm buying them all, but everywhere I go it's like "Buy 10 games for £5." Looks like that old gray bastard is finally going out. At least we'll always have eBay. Well, I guess the main reason why I was so surprised I couldn't find one was because with the PS2 being backwards compatible and all, I assumed they would be around for quite a while. I mean, PS2 basically started the whole 'Backwards Compatibility' era, so I figured it wouldn't die for a while. P.S. By the way, I do know the Atari 5200 was backwards compatible too, just so all you hardcore gamers know. But This is the first 'Backwards Compatibility' since then, roughly 15 years or more later. |
